Do You Carry While Doing Yard Work?

Use to just stack arms in the front yard, 3 AR's, 5.56, 300 BO and a 308, in that beside each will be my Kuna, a BP 12 and SBR in 5.56 or 300 BO. My Boxer stands guard on my military style stack, barrels up. I'd stage ammo boxes around the yard disguised as yard decor.

Then, I got a new mower and I don't think it's necessary to haul by armory outside, I solved that;

"Q" Has outdone himself. Well played, Ozarker. Well played....

I have two that I use for yard work and mowing the front entrance to our subdivision. They are both something I don't mind sweating on and are comfortable enough to carry while working. Not really any crime in our quiet little neighborhood. About 32 homes in here, mostly retired, a few retired military and retired DEA. However, as some have moved on, there have been younger couples with kids moving in, which is nice. Good families. At least two active duty Navy with kids. But, I carry regardless just because of the times we live in.

In the Nam, the common joke was when you got back stateside, first 5hing you was gonna do was dig a bunker in your front yard, and enclose the yard on barbed tape. Maybe a few claymores. Now it seems like a good idea more than a joke!
I was stationed with a guy who dug a foxhole in his back yard when he got back and he was convinced he was going to need it. He was a little twitchy.

What, no shower gun?

The funny thing is, you think you're kidding.

I don't think anybody's claimed it here but there's other forums where people that are known to be cops and people that are known to be attorneys, claim that they actually keep a gun in their shower.

One guy (Former Prosecutor) in particular says he has a plastic case and I've never been in the shower so I don't know how it's set up but there is a firearm accessible while he's in his shower.

The short answer is that I put on my gun when I get dressed in the morning.

The long answer is as most of you know I live out the sticks.

I did some research the other day. El Paso County Colorado is 2,130 square miles.

If you've ever been in Colorado Springs and you've ever driven out to the East End Woodmen Road where it intersects Highway 24, if you drew a line from the north end of the county to the South end of the county going right through that point probably 2/3 of the county is east of that. There's only one town out there, Calhan Colorado. It has a population of less than a thousand, no traffic lights and has a police department of either six people and the chief of police or six people including the chief of police.

Everything else out here is what they call a Census "Designated Place" or an "Unincorporated Community". Which means it's not a real town and they don't have a city government and they don't have a police force.

The El Paso County Sheriff's department handles most of the law enforcement out here but they have a rather large area to cover.

Bottom line, if something squirrely happens out here it's going to be long, long over before the cops show up.
