Animal Rights Wackos Closer to Banning All Hunting and Fishing in Oregon

Give it a few years. When people start dying regularly because their car hit a deer or elk, when the squirrels and rabbits invade the local neighborhood and start eating all the lawns and gardens, when the local lake stinks to high heaven of dead fish or when whole species are wiped out by...

    Its a holster thing

Holsters are very individual things. What works for one person might be completely wrong for another. Personally, I hate shoulder holsters. I will agree on the Askins Avenger as that's my favorite type holster. I have several of them for different guns. I also agree that a good belt is a...

How does everyone here view the Bersa Pistols in general?

I've never owned one, but I know several people who do. They swear by 'em and love 'em. If I ran across one at a good price, I'd likely buy it.

    Pistol on kayak

I'm wondering if maybe you could use a plate carrier and put some sort of buoyant material in the plate pockets? Would it be enough to keep you afloat if you went in? A good plate carrier would have all kinds of attachments for various equipment on the outside. I agree with Shibadog, time to...

    If you remember

There are actually two versions of Dawn of the Dead. The original was made in 1978 and featured a relatively unknown cast. It was re-made in 2004 staring Sarah Polley and Ving Rhames. In both, a small group of survivors takes refuge in a local shopping mall. Most of the characters remain the...

    We, as Americans, are spoiled

While I was in Germany (1974-75), a guy from HQ Co. was wandering around downtown staggering drunk. Polizi stopped him and had him assume the position on a wall and said don't move. Ordinarily, when they find out that you're an American soldier, they just turn you over to the MPs and that's...

    We, as Americans, are spoiled

When Uncle Sam sent me to Germany in 1974, the very first thing they taught us in orientation was that this is NOT the U.S. Our rules and laws don't apply here. You have NO rights here! Don't mess up and keep your mouth shut!

Unleashing a Deadly Snake: The Birth of the AH-1 Cobra

When I was at Ft. Hood (72-74), one of our regular FTX spots was on top of a plateau that overlooked the air gunnery range. You'd never see the Cobras coming at night, but you could hear them. All of a sudden, the air was full of tracers and rockets and the ground was on fire! It was damned...

    Want My Omelet?

The problem with freeze-dried is that it requires water. A good bit of it. In the SHTF scenario, potable water may well be in shorter supply than food.

    Want My Omelet?

Over the years I've rotated out old MRE's several times due to age. I go through each one and found that mostly its the entree that goes bad. Pop Tarts don't fair well either. But things like crackers, snacks, peanut butter, coffee, drink mixes and such are very well vacuum packed...

Is the 1911 the "Stick Shift" of EDC?

Driving a stick shift vehicle requires a certain level of skill beyond the average driver. Carrying the 1911 is the same. ;)

    Want My Omelet?

Army 1972-75. I ate a bunch of C-Rats back in the day. Ours were mostly Korean War leftovers dating in the 1950s. They actually weren't that bad. Especially if you got the ones with fruit or chocolate in them. And yes, I have eaten the dreaded Ham and Lima Beans. Certainly not a favorite, but...

    Rambo prequel

I never liked Franco anyway. And a current woke Hollywood version of Rambo? I don't think so. :cautious:

    Whos doing a vegetable garden

Both of my parents were raised on a farm. As a kid, I spent a whole lot of time on my Grandparent's farms. Both had large vegetable gardens. Neither one of my Grandmaws was foolish enough to not to take advantage of free help when it was available. I make absolutely no pretense to...

    Shot between the eyes

"The defendant and her boyfriend were both allegedly using drugs at the time of the shooting, Dickson told KETK." Think that might've had a little something to do with this?

    SA-35 safety and other ?

Yes, the SA-35 just has the one thumb safety. I believe they did a great job with it too. Best designed safety lever I've ever seen on any Hi-Power. (y) Pocket carry? The SA-35 is a full sized, double stack service pistol. I don't think anybody makes pockets that big.

    Gunmaker murder suicide in MS

Walter Birdsong was fairly well known in the South. He invented the Black-T teflon gun finish which was quite popular for being extremely tough. Its a shame when the death of a family member leads to such anger. But it happens quite often. :(
