    Tumble on Impact ammo

The funny thing while I wouldn’t recommend ball ammo, ball isn’t quite as anemic and over penetration as some think. Ball ammo also uses causing a somewhat similar wound as when a JHP expands but not quite as much. But again they market BS and people buy into it for twice the price

    303 British vs 308 Winchester

I remember the market was flooded in the 80’s woth 303 rifles and ammo. I like it for the history of it. While a 307 makes sense due to cost and availability as far as performance unless one is shooting completion or game past 400 yards I’m not convinced there’s enough of a difference to make...

    Tumble on Impact ammo

I agree with a lot of the experts. This whole “Tumble on impact” “RIP” and a lot of others is pure marketing BS If you want something serious for defense just do research to what LE agencies use something similar for your caliber. I get I can’t think of any running 7.62x39 but you get the...

Wanna have some fun? (PART TWO)

It took me a minute to warm up to a Beretta from my Model 15 but I bought a Sig 220 whem I got out of the Air Force I was joining a PD as a reserve and the range guy said he didn’t want me carrying a 1911 not so much he didn’t trust me but a young officer tackle berry they hired the range guy...

Ayoob: My Take on the SA-35

Perhaps some slight milling of the sour or different hammer can do the trick. Not sure if Cylinder and Slide is still going but them and Novak use to do some awesome Hi Power Voodoo

Wanna have some fun? (PART TWO)

If Ukraine happened right here, Having 30 plus years of Sig 22x series both agency and personal (and a ton of trigger time with my agencies 228) my 226 is probably my go to war sidearm. Rifle probably AR 15 shotgun again a few decades with Remington 870’s. Lethal less lethal and breaching...

Ayoob: My Take on the SA-35

By nibbles is the sour hitting ykur hand slightly? If so try a revolvwr aka crushed thumb grip on it. (Where both thumbs are locked down) That changes your hand (the meaty part) ever so slightly enouhh it eliminates hammer bite with most people.

Ayoob: My Take on the SA-35

I will say that Justin Opinion is one of my favorite gun review channels. His content is very well don and his camera skills are some of the best and reminds me of the quality of Mr Leatham work back in the day of the gun magazines .

    Interesting theory on bullet performance

The endearing quality of a 38 wadcutter (any) is the flat that cuts full 38 diameter homes in paper for that next scoring ring also cuts 38 cal homes in a sternum and gets 14-16” to the goods and doesn’t need speed or blast to donut. And is generally POA/POI on J frames. Even NYPD had...

    Learn me about Red Dots

They are an enthusiast tool, it alone will not improve your proficiency. Take a professional class by a reputable instructor THAT goes over proper mounting and best practices. It takes about 3,000 rounds to get close to where you are with irons (per Dave Spaulding whem I took his class and...

    1911 peeps

I run primarily Wilson and Chip McCormicks but Ed Brown, Les Bear and such will be fine. There are a lot of gun companies that use the same magazine manufacturers (like MecGar ACT etc) but no matter the make they should all fit if you have the right size. Obviously an officers mag won’t fit a...

    Interesting theory on bullet performance

While nuke 38 special 138 wadcutter is an excellent choice and was popular in snubs when I started (tail end of wheelgun days) and I know 2 Officers that dumped felons the 135 Gold Dot will expand and penetrate out of a S&W 642. I have the pics of the bullets a good friend dirt napped a felon...

    Interesting theory on bullet performance

The problem as Chuck Haggard pointed out with the vast array of YouTube ballistic gel testers they base their “conclusions” on a one and done or a one bare one with denim and some. To get a good baseline a group of 5 is better. Also some that somt do well in gel habe been really good stoppers...

The Shooting Paradox: Slow Down to Speed Up

If I were to add a replacement word it would be make “Deliberate “ shots. As Darryl Bolke says While I get a 6 stage with 28-32rounds per stage at a USPSA match Running half second splits to that .17 splits is gonna add up to a lot on the street .50 splits wins as LAPD SWAT and otherwise has...

The Shooting Paradox: Slow Down to Speed Up

As a LE and private citizen trainer that is nit stuck in an Agency echo chamber the biggest culprit is agencies and private citizens settle for good enough on range trips instead of practicing what they suck at. And the HUGE unrealistic large size targets with over sized or indirectly placed...

The Shooting Paradox: Slow Down to Speed Up

The go faster fairy is bad!!!!! Look no farther than the vast amount of LE shootings (and some private citizens) on camera. The ones with cyclic split times mag dump and hit nothing but a perps elbow. The ones that shoot 3-7 rounds at a rapid pace almost a cadence of 1/2-3/4 or a second drop...

Col. Charles Askins: An Unremorseful Reprobate

With the poundage and travel distance in a DA revolver No, Tried in a striker fired (Glocks or etc) Yes In the DA revolver days it wasn’t uncommon for folk's to be trained to start their trigger pull on the draw and homsters even had the trigger and part of the trigger guard exposed. The...

Col. Charles Askins: An Unremorseful Reprobate

The Trigger guard was Fritz Special pioneered by John Fitzgerald Side note I got to run some rounds out of a Fritz Spexial modified by Mr Fritz himself at Snub Revolver roundup (pre Revolverfest) a couple years ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FitzGerald_Special
