Yeah, I think it’s a great choice. I have seen first hand where the open tip hp’s clog up when going through clothing, especially heavy winter clothing and fail to expand. The flex tip prevents that problem.

The article forgot the Polish com-bloc version of the Mak. I have had a Polish version of the Makarov in 9/18 it is designated a P64 and is dated 1968. I believe it was manufactured by the Polish company Radom. It's very similar to the PPK's. Excellent blued finish. Shoots great, good for CCW.

We had a BAR in our SWAT locker in the late 70's. It was nothing we used on callouts, because it was old, but I used to take it out on training days and fire it. Loved that gun!!!

Actually perfect spring per Springfield. Handles standard ball easy as well.

I don't know how that could've happened Dag but I have never had any problems with anything like that. I shoot in daylight and low light w/o problems. Of course muzzle flare in night scenarios is always a a factor at any any rate.

My load for social carry is Double Taps .450 SMC 230 gr. w/an 18.5 recoil spring. Porting tames it very well. Regular ball for the range is a breeze.

Better yet, send your barrel and slide to Mag-Na-Port in Michigan and have them port it. That way you don't have that ugly device hanging on the end of your pistol. Only other reason would be for a threaded barrel.
