Discussion: Why Consistent Ammo is Accurate Ammo

It's easy to get good cases, bullets, powder and tools to assemble them. But the hardest thing is getting good, uniform primers. Primers vary quite a bit across several lots; some much more than others. For ranges of 200 yards or less, there's not much difference between primers, like about...

Now Illinois Thinks It’s Firearms Manufacturers Who Pull the Trigger

Gentle Readers, a reminder .... Socialism: You have two cows. Give one cow to your neighbor. Communism: You have two cows. Give both cows to the government, and they may give you some of the milk. Fascism: You have two cows. You give all of the milk to the government, and the government sells...

    The younger workplace void

Remember the tariff checks? Haven’t seen mine yet. Oh, and where’s my Trump phone to call and check on my tariff checks? There are roughly 245 million adult citizens which means $1.225 trillion in checks—about 3.8% of current $32.5T GDP. That would add the full amount to the already $2T+ FY2026...

Discussion: Why Consistent Ammo is Accurate Ammo

I don’t know about serious long range shooters today, but I shot competitive benchrest for a number of years back in the 90s. If it was a match no one loaded beforehand, you loaded at the match because conditions always changed and you had to adapt. And we loaded with an arbor press and hand...

Now Illinois Thinks It’s Firearms Manufacturers Who Pull the Trigger

The voters don't get a say to the legislation. Its not like it goes out for "public comment," so most folks won't bat an eye until it gets out of committee and on the floor (hopefully for debate) and before the guv'ner signs.

Now Illinois Thinks It’s Firearms Manufacturers Who Pull the Trigger

Maybe, but probably not. A firearm is one of those things generally considered inherently dangerous. But ... to apply the logic .... isn't a fork a dangerous instrument because it could lead to obesity? A pencil ... to mis-spelling? Asking for millions of firearm owners......

Follow the money. Who are the lobbyists that are contributing money to the legislators proposing this legislation? That's my first question.

    The younger workplace void

Let me bend the trajectory of the conversation a bit. Wages are a complex case. The inequity is there - between wages and executive compensation, but the amount of money that goes to benefits (healthcare being enormous) is generally left out of the conversation when it comes to the workforce. I...

    1911 TRP AOS CC holster

I’ll say this, as a devout Milt Sparks fan, I have never been disappointed at having to wait for a new 55BN.

Thanks for that. Never heard of them, but good looking stuff. If my Bride needs new shoes for an outfit, I think I can apply the same reasoning to getting a new holster, right?

I have the same gun. Firing 357s feels like hitting the palm of your hand as hard as you can with a ball peen hammer.

Compensated 10 mm for concealed carry?

I'm well aware. Yep. I am also aware and acquainted with the Hornady line and critical duty. My reply was a question in response to your statement, " I worry about over penetration. " I must have missed your answer to what over penetration you were worried about.

Compensated 10 mm for concealed carry?

Over penetration of what, exactly? I think that “myth” is largely overblown and is what has led to these fluted fly-weight projectiles like the Lehigh stuff. But hey, to each their own. Given today’s environment and the likelihood of a vehicle situation I’d opt for a load that could defeat...

1986 VS 2026: Guns And Ammo Pricing

I remember distinctly buying my first Glock (17) in 1987. Small shop in Hover, AL. Can’t recall the name, but they had their Glocks on a wire clothes line and you could walk up and spin the one you wanted. Price was $299, still seemed like a lot of money back then. Now I see Glocks going...

What is your absolute favorite handgun and caliber.

True. It’s all in the recoil. I like the standard or plow handle on my 41s and 44s. I have found the Bisley more pleasant on my custom 45, my 480 and 500JRH. Of course, YMMV.

The Story of the .30-30 Winchester: America’s Original Deer Cartridge

Great cartridge for the south eastern US. Killed my first deer with a 336 Marlin almost 40 years ago. I would not hesitate to go forth and kill stuff east of the Mississippi with one.
