First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

That's the other bad thing about trying to compare RIA and SPA...nothing seems to be in stock. The models, even a bit overpriced, that I was trying to purchase (range master, 9mm, stainless) were discontinued yet still advertised for over a year.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Again: Funding, time, and resources. Funding - I have none. Hence my sticky-ness on prices. Much like a lot of others these days. Time- I'll make some if it means adding valuable content to this (and other) forums and contributing to the quality of the sidearms that we all either enjoy or...

I'm all eyes and ears to that.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Maybe someone on this forum with the funding, the time, and the resources should put up a Ransom Rest test between the RIA 51679 and the SPA SPRINGFIELD 1911 DS PRODIGY 9MM and then justify the price difference.

    Just facts.

Holosun 407K on SA RO Champion

Holosun 407K - $274 for SIGHTS. Half way to the cost of an instrument that will shoot accurately out of the box. Maybe putting 5 rounds in a cloverleaf is a rich mans game any more.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Overpriced. SPA has just now arbitrarily got into the game that ARMSCOR did 2 years ago. Skateboard tape around the grip and a couple of milling cuts on the front of the slide doesn't justify the price.

Deadly Decisions: Do You Make These Mistakes?

Yet again: Nice fiction. Isn't there any place else left on the Interwebs where You People can post this?

Deadly Decisions: Do You Make These Mistakes?

Excellent piece of fiction with just the right amount of "threads of truth" to keep it relevant. "Skidding up on a bicycle", "Cutting off path's of retreat". "'Give me a cigarette'"...even though he was hauling around young children. Not sure if it should be labeled Laughable or Scare...

Review: 9mm Emissary 1911 — Almost Like Cheating

Ugh, dammit. Maybe the foundation for my post got lost in the build-up around it. I don't doubt that Springfield makes some top quality and beautifully made machinery. Their customer service is probably excellent - I've luckily never had to use it which is probably a testament to the quality...

Review: 9mm Emissary 1911 — Almost Like Cheating

The above three posts from Killerford, Philmo, and BassBob are well written and poignant. Thanks to those that host and take the time to contribute to this forum. My father spontaneously went out and bought the S/A Ronin in 5" a few months ago and it has performed wonderously. He paid just a...

    Quest for a quality .380

Oh, JFAL(and others)...thank you for mentioning the S&W Shield EZ. Those are becoming more and more considered as my father ages. He's not quite to the point where the pain of arthritis will keep him from the fun of enjoying a morning at the range. But none of us are getting any younger...

    Quest for a quality .380

The Browning BDA is an absolutely beautiful piece of machinery. I've lusted after one for more than a decade now. Unfortunately, the prices on them will undoubtedly go no where but even further beyond my purchasing power. A Beretta Model 83 would be wonderful as well. But the rarity of...

Review: 9mm Emissary 1911 — Almost Like Cheating

No one would pay $1300 for a RIA or Tisas...they're not priced that high. I bought and Iver Johnson (I believe they are made in the Philippines) long slide with fully adjustable target sights for just at $700 and the first 10 shots out of the gun after a good cleaning were almost in the same...

Review: 9mm Emissary 1911 — Almost Like Cheating

The title should read "... - almost like getting cheated out of $500+" I've shot a 9mm SA Emissary and they are NOT worth the price. Some extra/different mill work done on the front grip metal and on the slide does NOT give a manufacture free license to rip off customers. It amazes me how S/A...

    Quest for a quality .380

I've searched all over this and several other forums trying to find what seems to be impossible: A mid-budget, accurate, comfortable .380 to take to the range. So far my father and I have wasted money on the Springfield Armory 911 and recently the RIA "Baby Rock". The 911 is an absolute...
