HELP Newby Cleaning Lubing 45 mil-spec for 1st time

It ain’t gonna hurt to run ‘em wet. Ask any top-tier 1911 ‘smith and they will concur. Factory guns are loose in tolerance. A Wilson, or Nighthawk, Alchemy, Les a Baer, etc., all run better, wetter.

HELP Newby Cleaning Lubing 45 mil-spec for 1st time

Made my case: “The second universal rule, is lube heavy: just the friction surfaces – the wetter the better.”

HELP Newby Cleaning Lubing 45 mil-spec for 1st time

Hoo boy, asking how one maintains their beloved piece is opening a can ‘o worms. Ballistol for the exterior, 5-w30 / 3-in-1 for the oil (pivots) and grease (slide). KISS. I do run my Sigs/Gen3 S&Ws and 1911s “wetter” than my Glocks.

An Article I Thought Might Interest Folks Here

You can't legislate responsibility, and firearm ownership is one of those activities that requires responsibility. That's just another way of saying you can't pass laws that are going to protect people from the misdeeds of others and protect the owners at the same time. I've heard of laws that...

    Wondering question.

I hope not! I rarely see them on the used market in my neck of the woods, but from what I have seen of them, I'd love to have one as a knock-around truck gun. They seem much less expensive than used Glocks or M&Ps, probably due to demand for Glcoks and M&Ps. Magazines seem plentiful too...

    Backcountry Hiking Survival Guide

@The Night Rider "I am predicting the next national election is going to be a Blue Wave. I'm also predicting that it will be a blue wave that America will never recover from." You may well be correct, but both parties seem determined to not work together for the common good an only want to...

Law enforcement managers falsified their crime rate statistics to appear more 'safe'

I would imagine this is a more widespread practice than we'd like to admit. A lot of "funding" decisions are made on data, and that data is almost always manipulated. Reminds me of the joke, what does 2+2 equal? The engineer replies, "Four." The statistician says, "On average, four, give or...

Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle has died

I thought so. In this case, from what I understand, there was a serious mechanical issue that occurred shortly after take-off.

    Building a Backwoods Carry Kit

We can debate the merits of our caliber of choice all day long, and do so in a civilized framework - which is another reason I like this board so much and respect all of you contributing posters. I like to read and consider what you guys think - and why you think what you think! Makes me...

    crazy prices on used guns

Yes, it seems the prices of all guns across the board have risen astronomically over the last decade. I’m sure there is a combination of factors that are attributable, but I see some today and I just think, “wow!”

Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle has died

Serious question. I am not a pilot, but it seems there a far more private plane accidents than there are commercial accidents. And I mean when small number of passengers are involved, not football teams flying cross country to a game. Can anyone speculate as to why that is? Or is that not the...

On this day in 1955, the first production .44 Magnum Revolver was introduced,

The 44 is like a gasoline-V8 .... it gets most any job done, in myriads of scenarios, with ease, and has tremendous aftermarket support. Every serious shooter should have at least one, during their lifetime.
