I have a Prodigy 5" Comp for almost a year now. First 1911/2011 I have owned. I do have some issues with taking the slide stop out (mostly due to my index fingers having some arthritis. Has this block helped in doing maintenance chores and if so, in what way?

How about something like this ,at lot cheaper to try. No idea if they would but they look interesting , was looking at them recently for a similar pry need.

Its good if you want to do things like replace barrel links or polish hammer or sear surfaces, but otherwise most all the pins in a 1911 come out pretty easily. The average owner doesn't need it.

To easily remove the slide stop: hold the gun in your right hand, press your trigger finger firmly against the nub of the slide stop sticking out the right side of the frame, rack the slide. Usually the slide stop will pop right out of the slide far enough to easily grab and remove.

That is a neat way that I have NOT seen before. Doing that on my pistol pops the slide stop out on the left side just a little. I think I can get it out from there. Thx for the tip.

I have the 10/8 block, very useful for fitting thumb safety and a few other task. To be honest I get more use out of a punch and a roll of blue painters tape. LOL

The block is ok if you’re modding a 1911, but not really necessary for primary stuff. I find the Armorer Tool much more helpful. Particularly for pushing out a slide release becaus it won’t mar.
