Its good if you want to do things like replace barrel links or polish hammer or sear surfaces, but otherwise most all the pins in a 1911 come out pretty easily. The average owner doesn't need it.

To easily remove the slide stop: hold the gun in your right hand, press your trigger finger firmly against the nub of the slide stop sticking out the right side of the frame, rack the slide. Usually the slide stop will pop right out of the slide far enough to easily grab and remove. ;)

That is a neat way that I have NOT seen before. Doing that on my pistol pops the slide stop out on the left side just a little. I think I can get it out from there. Thx for the tip.
