I bought this gun because it has ambi controls and I’m a lefty.i brought it home and the slide release on the right side of the gun that I would use being left handed doesn’t work.i used both thumbs pushed as hard as i could would not release the slide.the one on the left side of the gun for right handers works fine.i took it back to the gun shop to send back,they had another one in the case we tried it and it was the same.i contacted Springfield about it and they said they have not heard of this problem seems strange that both guns had issues.im hoping the turn around time on getting my gun back isn’t to long.Now I’m skeptical if I even want to keep this gun.

Was the magazine still in?
 
I will guess there is a burr on the slide catch on the starboard side. I never use the slide catch to let the slide go forward, I pull the slide to the rear and let go. I was trained this way and have trained hundreds of others the same.

The slide will not go forward with an empty magazine inserted.

Hi - I just purchased one of these pistols, and I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with the slide release not working at all with the left hand with an empty magazine. I didn't think anything of the fact that I was having issues with the gun in the store, since every ambi gun I have purchased is always harder to work from the left side until it gets broken in a little.
