Actually you should never shoot a .40 in any 10mm due to headspace issues unless you have a revolver chambered in 10mm and use moon clips.

What 10mm carbine do you have? I've sort of been eyeballing that S&W FPC in 10mm but I haven't talked myself into stocking up ammo in another caliber. My 9mm FPC sure is fun to shoot. But I digress.

It's not recommended to shoot anything else but what the gun is chambered for.

Since it's a rimless cartridge you shouldn't do it! Unlike say 38spl and 357mag having rims to headspace on let's you shoot those. @Annihilator nailed it

As per others, NO.
The .40 S&W would have nothing to headspace on in the longer 10mm chamber.
The only thing holding on t the case would be the extractor.

I "suppose" it is possible if your extractor is strong enough to hold the case. I know its been done in some guns; but again why?

Extractor will hold it, but hoping the mouth will expand enough to seal gas is the issue on a blowback
