And here’s a personal preference:

I HATE Straight-8 sight profile; give me 3-dot, or a black rear/bright front any day over S8.

Agreed, 3 dot are acceptable but my strong favorite is black read bright green front.

If, going with an express type set up which is really what the straight 8 is, the best i have found is a v rear notch sight blade with a white stripe and a gold bead front. I used this for hunting with my red hawk for many years. This is what is used on big game rifles used for dangerous game. The v notch makes it easy for the eye to slide down to the stripe. look at XS big dot sights
