Ive got an opportunity to pick up a virgin stripped frame thats calling me; but I dont have a clue. IF I make the leap, Im gonna need someone to put it together starting with the plunger tube and any fitting

Any suggestions?

Personally I wouldn’t build what I could buy off the shelf, but that’s just my philosophy.

There are so many flavors of the 1911 available today, what can’t you find that you’d like to have?

Yep thats what Im coming around to; but this is a Safari Arms frame, with the single finger groove. I dont typically like finger grooves but the Safari Arms always looked cool.

After talking to the gunsmith, who didnt recommend it either, I think Im gonna pass, especially after I started counting up the costs

For the uninformed the Safari Arms Enforcer was a Commander, "factory" chopped to 4" with a shortened grip AND the single finger groove. Note the position of the bottom grip screw. It took shortened full size grips. This was PRE Colt Officer Model

What do you want it to have when complete?

You can spend many hours trying to figure out which part(s) you want to put in it :)
So many options for each part !!

There are several classes where you build a 1911
Clark Custom Guns- Known for accurate Bullseye pistols

Bob Marvel Class (Marvel 1911 / 22LR conversions were his design)
(looks like all classes are full already for this year)

Gunsite academy

Jon Shue (Multiple time NRA National pistol champion)
He offers a class in North Carolina
His contact info on FaceBook - https://www.facebook.com/blackmasscustom

Brownell's has videos on building 1911s and the tools you will need if you want to do it yourself

Here are a few 1911 build articles.

Any general video-

It depends on what you intend to do with it. If you want a truly custom gun, go for it. But be aware that you can very quickly sink more money into it than just going out and buying what you want.
In all the years and all the 1911s I've owned, I've only built up a frame once and that was to permanently mount a .22 conversion unit on.
