Think Springfield could be convinced to build a Model 2020 rifle with their carbon and steel barrel in a classic wood stock? Maybe with a slim wrist and easy to carry forearm? Something model 70 featherweight (ish)? With the availability of the high grade wood they have in the .22 I would like to think such a thing would be possible.
After decades of wanting carbon and black everything I have told myself that all the rifles I buy from this point on (with the exception of the 7 backcountry and .277 fury I have coming) will be something I will be proud to hand down to my kids one day. I am 99% a bowhunter but would love to take an elk with a nice stocked classic 2020 Springfield rifle.
