Bigger guy carrying at 3 o’clock. No issues with striker and no safety. I have a couple pistols for ccw currently, but have way more full size. Just looking for honest opinions on what’s out there and what people’s preferences are.

If I am carrying OWB I'm usually carrying an HK VP9SK w/Holosun SCS in a Muddy River Tactical kydex holster. Holds tight to the body and I think I may prefer this one even to my full size VP9. Which is also an excellent choice.

Someone posted a link here the other day to some VP9s for really good prices. They had the SK with the SCS for about $400 cheaper than I paid for mine about a year or so ago. I can try to find it ?

There IS no “best”-WAY too many variables pertaining to shooter size, skills, preferred carry method, etc. etc period. The “best” for YOU may be totally unsuitable to and for me. Best is what YOU can comfortably carry, shoot accurately, and has enough power to deal with any threat YOU are likely to encounter.. That .32 Seecamp in your pocket will be worthless if you’re carrying in the Alaskan wilderness, and the .500 Smith mag probably won’t work well for carry in a city😏

It's * not impossible * to be an actual newcomer to guns , actually curious . But my first thought is someone stirring the pot , to grin at the reactions.

Either way, I'll shift into Educating the General Public Mode , and minimize my personal druthers and quirks .

As a Class , Compact to Subcompact 9mm autoloaders , either striker fired or DA/ SA , made of either plastic or aluminum alloy .

The Big Four brands , plus most of such offerings from mid size Mfgs , all Don't Suck , and any of them are * capable of doing anything reasonably expected from a Subcompact 9mm *

Meanwhile, Small to small -ish frame snub revolvers are still as viable as they were for the 75 years they were the predominant choice . Today , they are available in more brands and more calibers than ever before . That said , unless you have strong , informed , preference for something else , the Default Biggfoot Recomentation for anyone asking , l say Steel Frame ,

OK, with a straight face :

Suggestion #1 ‐ Better holster(s) for your prefered current gun(s) .

Suggestion #2 – Next smaller version of current gun you shoot well / perfere .
 
After experiencing/owning all of the following (at some point) - Glock 43, Walther PPS M2, P365, P365XL, Glock 43X, and P365 Legion......

What works best for me is -
(6' 240lbs large gut; carrying appendix in a Vedder light tuck w/ Mastermind Tactics carry pillow wedge)

Sig P365XL with a threaded barrel, Holosun 507K in green. Wilson Combat grip module.

I like the slight extra length of the threaded barrel and it makes no difference for concealment for me. Additionally, I have/can experiment with compensators (though I do not carry it with one).

12 +1 is good capacity and the XL grip does not print for me like a macro grip.

Holosun 507K in green - works best for my 61 yr old, both astigmatismed eyes.

(Older pic. The gray frame is my primary EDC and it now has a threaded barrel on it. I have the option to go with the black frame with light if I ever needed to.)
