.41 Special loads

Yes. .41Special. I've just gotten a Ruger Blackhawk 4-5/8" revolver. I bought 200 Starline .41 Special brass. I bought X-treme 210gr. FP bullets. I want to build moderate .41 Special rounds with them. I want to have fun at the range. I don't need ground pounding sonic booms to do so. Any leads to good load data for .41 Special greatly appreciated.

Starline has an article on loading the 41 caliber.
Got unique? I guessed 5.5 - 6 gr and that article has that load at 6gr for a 215gr.
I don't know why 40ShortnWeak or 41AE data couldn't be used.
You have a strong revolver just don't reduce something slow like h110 or over charge something fast.

The .41 Special doesn't look bad but I'm hoping for around a 750fps load. But 900fps is definitely better than four digits. I just ordered a pound of Red Dot as it appears to be good for milder loads. The research continues.

From my experience shooting 41 Magnum, any current loading is basically 41 Special.

I speak from shooting Vintage ammo, current loads, and current Remington Green and Yellow box ammo.

Current Green and Yellow box Remington ammo is the equivalent of the Vintage 41 Magnum, in every excruciating bit of felt recoil.

Have you choreographed it? Because it is well hotter . All the current production Remington made 41 magnum has the mid to high 1,200 FPS tha is far from the below 1,000 FPS of a Spexial version. Of said caliber

If you want factory produced below 1,000 FPS Special velocity 41 mag it’s High Desert, or various cowboy action loaded from places like HSM.

The 41 Mag has not suffered a significant watered down loading kine the 10mm has.

I mean yes it might be 100 FPS slower than the 1964 versions or what a test bearded runs them however no different than what todays 357 mag is slightly lower but still magnum velocity from the 1935 versions as the 44 mags are from theor 1955 versions

I don't have a link handy , but do a search for Taffin Tests .41 Special.

Massively oversimplified take on .41 Spl . The original concept was .410 caliber, running at .38 Spl velocities .

Try your prefered powders you use for 158gr .38 Spl , and fine tune for prefered velocities in the 700 - 900 fps range .

After emails with Hodgdon it looks like one good solution is their magic formula using Trail Boss. I got two bottles of the unobtainium last year for just in case. So this will be my just in case. Probably 1500-1600 rounds, more than I'll likely ever shoot. Never say never. :)
