5" Prodigy Comp production question

Howdy, noticed the 5" Prodigy Comp has come down in price a bit, order in.

So, I've noticed some video alleged problems in the past per cerakote flaking etc., and guys doing a "manual break-in" of 2-3K cycles to remove cera flakes. Has that been cleared up?

My history; certified factory LEO armorer for Glock and SIG 2XX series pistols, shooting/hunting since 1980, Reagan's U.S. Army.

1911/2011s experience; student of Hilton since buying 1st service 1911 with a SIG TO in 201X. I usually just start with buying a 10-8 slide-stop for mods, go from there if there's cycling problems.

Little disappointed to see just (2) mags included, have to dig out some old STI/SVI units.

What's up fellas? How's your 5" Prodigy Comps runing? Will there be an issue mounting a Mepro? TIA...

Welcome to the forum from South Texas. If I were still a competitive shooter I might take a hard look at the Prodigy. There have been many discussions in this forum, pros & cons, on this pistol. Have several pistols that are not in my EDC rotation but not because they are not reliable. Imagine SA is trying to correct problems that may or may not be valid.

I have a 5" model, got it roughly a year after release. I've had no issues with it. If anything the cerakote is thick on the rails and takes some time to break in/wear. It gets smoother the more I shoot it. Not had any function issues and absolutely love it. I run it in training as my sidearm and it's not failed me yet.

I was going to say the same thing about the cerakote. I actually cycled mine what felt like a million times and wherever I could see wear occurring to the coating I took a stone to it to smooth it out.

Have around 800ish rounds through my 5" comp. Various weights, fmj and jhp, not one malfunction of any kind. I had an issue with AOS plate coming loose occasionally but Vibratite seems to have cured that. Serial number is NMH81###. It should serve you well. Welcome to the forum from NE FLORIDA.

TY for all your feedbacks and comedy fun!

Rumor has it this was made in USA again, so I'll give it a try. Been really pleased with the Echelon and HellCat Pro purchased in last 12 months, not looking to stir the pot here just looking for actual user feedback beyond the ewe toobz click-bait crapola o' the day.....Headed over to pick it up now, just came in, one of the guys in the shop is a 1911 smithy so I'll be curious to hear what he has to say as well. Drive on Brothers!

SA, you have GOT to figure out some better QC for BASIC things, which is the exact same thing that happened with the HellCat Pro I recently bought before this; no owner's manual and the (2) allen wrenches that were included are NOT for this pistol. How/why is this happening? $1300 pistol, and these basic matters are not important to whoever is pushing these out the door. It's F'd up; I pay $1300 and if I want the correct wrenches in the case for range work etc, I have to buy them? Yes, I have them in my tools, but first I have to go through my inventory to figure out which ones are correct sizing and decide which I want to pull out of my boxes to put into a SA case for this pistol? Yes, BOTH these recent SA purchases were brand new from factory, with missing and wrong items. What's going on in there?

The Hellcat Pro are made in Croatia, only guns that actually are made here by them are the metal guns, just call them up, they answer emails rather slow.

Yeah, I'm aware which pistols are made where, but really don't care; somehow they have the SAME QC problems of inspecting the firearms in their cases, what is supposed to be included, and getting the correct items in there. WTF? It leads to the BASIC question; what else are they forgetting, when they're not even LOOKing into the case before it ships.
