3-the latter bit about throwing a clip on the ground—is an oft quoted myth.

Seriously…you think that you’re going to hear that “ping” in the midst of a firefight, with no earpro, when you’ve been shooting a 8mm Mauser or 9mm subgun (in the case in the ETO…)?

Never bought that one.

Lol, and if you did hear it , by the time you get up, or start moving, that experienced Garand shooter has another 8 in the rifle waiting on you. I have seen some of those old Garand guys load those things, it's pretty quick.
