This is a great article. This is one of the reasons I refuse to change the internal parts of my guns. I understand completely there are things I could do or pay to have done but I feel frankly why?
It took me almost two weeks to change out the stock on one of my AR’s because I didn’t want to make a mistake or go backwards.

AR's are reasonably easy to work on the internals if you have the need. If you are new to working on one make sure you watch a few YouTube videos on building a lower because there are small springs and detents that can go flying only to be lost. You can pick-up a spare parts kit online for around $9.00.

Just don't practice on your expensive guns.

Please let me be clearer. The actual work of changing out the stock took me about an hour. The time leading up to that was me reading and watching over and over multiple videos on how to do it.
I have always been one to think and rethink something I want to do so the end result is what I wanted.

Nice article and I think it is so true. Everything works together and I think the makers fine tune to the safest they can for the general public. If I was to want a better trigger it would be a drop in. They are fine tuned to all part working together.

If for some reason you are so inclined to futz with the trigger. I recommend purchasing a second oem unit and building a jig that captures it in the same position as in the firearm. In doing this one can see exactly how it operates.

I have found that some triggers are not hardened and can wear quickly. Having a trigger jig can help to identify catch points. However, as the article mentions, its easier just to get a drop in.

Note: while some may confuse the two the trigger jig I was referring to was not the one that plagues millennials when they don't get their way.

Although it might be interesting to pin them down and see what causes the hitch....

I won’t monkey with the parts...if I want a different trigger, I buy a complete trigger set/drop in unit and replace it complete.

Well...I do have one trigger that has JP Precision springs installed...but the other parts are stock.

Same here. 5 years and about six different stocks later I finally found the one that works best for me....for now...lol
