In Argentina, while you can buy and own various pistol calibers, civilians are not allowed to own a 9mm as per Argentine law.
Also, to get a firearm permit is a costly and long legal process. As per law the 9mm is considered a military ammo. This law is from the days of dictator Juan Peron.

My familia owns a old 45 cal pistol, while a very few friends have 38/357's.

I show my father in law y pre-ban Galil and he said, that is illegal. I stated, in Argentina yes but this is the USA and it is fully legal.
I then took him to a "Gun Show" and he was totally in shock to see so much of all types of firearms and wondered why we need all these weapons. I stated that in the USA, weapons are same as having a watch as per Yanqui culture.
LOL, it was a real eye opener for him.

I then explained to him, while when they buy any new/used vehicle in Argentina they must pay 100% in taxes and in the USA, you pay a simple state tax.

The people in the USA have zero idea of how fortunate we are to live in the USA.
