Aright, more range time with my top favorites and one new contender(ish)…and a purchase!!

I put about 30 rounds +/- through each of these.

Springfield XD Mod 3… Still loved it, budget power house.

Springfield Echelon… Liked it a lot more than last time.

Walther PDP Full Size… A really nice gun, seriously.

Canik Mete SFT… That trigger, seriously that trigger…

S&W Equalizer….Absolutely hated this thing, sorry not sorry.

What came home?? The Springfield XD Mod 3, for a few reasons, hear me out, plenty of these guns did things the XD probably wouldn’t do as well…but the XD does a little bit of everything each of these guns did (at least for me).

-More than a usable trigger (slightly long reset though).
-Quite nice front fiber optic sight.
-Love the grip (and texture) the only one that was slightly more comfy was the Echelon (but not by much)
-The overall weight & feel of the gun, seemed to stick with me despite the low cost of entry…it feels better than the price would lead you to believe.

I bought 5 targets, one for each gun and set them out about 15 yards…I wanted to see clearly how each gun did with groupings…They were all terrible and that’s a fault of mine, not the guns…but I’m getting better, the best grouping (if you’ll call it that :ROFLMAO:), was with the XD, second best was the Echelon…I’m beginning to think I’m favoring Springfield Guns.

I have spent a fair bit of money on range fees, rentals and ammo this week, but it's been a fun and educational experiment...The irony is I wound up with the gun I expected I would in the beginning...Did I steer myself there subconsciously? Maybe, But I'm happy with my purchase and that's what counts. (y)

Anyway, Bass Pro Shops did good by me, I walked out with:

The Gun
Vortex Defender CCW
Decent range bag, room for 2 guns, magazines, muffs etc..
Walker Razor Pro muffs (I've been using crappy ones from my mechanic days)
Pair of shooting glasses
100 rounds of Herter’s Target Load (Never heard of this brand).

All for $550 out the door. I think I did OK, the gun and optic were worth that.

I still need to go grab the optics plate from Springfield, and a couple magazines from Joe Bob Outfitters (currently on sale for $13 a magazine if anyone is interested )…all said and done I’ll be into this setup for about $580-590, and I couldn’t be happier.

I don’t suppose anyone could recommend a quality bore sighter so I can at least get this optic close before I go burn through rounds?

Hi @Aged_Cheddar,

Very nice pistol and very decent optic. Congratulations. That kit will make for excellent range fun and home defense. You may want to consider a class on how to clear your home.

Herter's is the house brand for Bass Pro Shop/Cabellas. The 9mm is probably rebranded Winchester White Box. Other calibers may be other makers.

Welcome to the quest.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
