A New Palestinian Offer for Peace With Israel

Hebron’s sheikhs propose to leave the Palestinian Authority and join the Abraham Accords.

The idea of a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians has never seemed more futile than in the months since Oct. 7, 2023. But maybe that opens the door to a new way of achieving peace.

“We want cooperation with Israel,” says Sheikh Wadee’ al-Jaabari, also known as Abu Sanad, from his ceremonial tent in Hebron, the West Bank’s largest city located south of Jerusalem. “We want coexistence.”

The leader of Hebron’s most influential clan has said such things before, as did his father. But this time is different. Sheikh Jaabari and four other leading Hebron sheikhs have signed a letter pledging peace and full recognition of Israel as a Jewish state. Their plan is for Hebron to break out of the Palestinian Authority, establish an emirate of its own, and join the Abraham Accords.

A prominent Hebron sheikh says: “If we will get the blessing of honorable President Trump and the United States for this project, Hebron could be like the Gulf, like Dubai.”

Would be great. Unfortunately, even if it happened, they would just become targets of the terrorists themselves
The muslim Arabs are not monolithic aside from their religion, and being a tribal/family culture not all tribes like each other are known to fight each other. No different than any other humans.

The Hebron tribe has a pretty large population, and the PA is known for corruption so the Hebron tribe is waking up.

If Israel, Jordan and the Gulf States & Saudi's can provide support for development this can be a game-changer.

As well, if the Gulf States and Saudi's can take-over Gaza that can also be a game-changer.

“We want peace (we need a couple years to rearm so we can continue jihad). We are ready for peace and prosperity (we’ve had the living crap kicked out of us and need to raise the next crop of martyrs). We can all get along” Those people will never ever really want peace. Doesn’t matter what the Israelis want or are willing to do. If your prime goal is to kill me, doesn’t make much difference what I do to be your friend. The pot there has ranged from simmer, to boil, then back to simmer forever.

Hi,

When there gets to be too much peace in the Middle East we can start talking about prophecy. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,
