THere is a book by Michael Connelly in the Lincoln Lawyer series called The Proving Ground that revolves around the ill effects of AI on young people, particularly AI companions. It is current with events and thought provoking.

Hi,

Yes, AI should be a  tool and, used accordingly, should not be scary. But, as we all know, many of us have "scary" black things in our safes that are merely tools. These tools have been used for incredible evil. It will be interesting how soon someone claims machine "consciousness" and the stir it may or may not cause. I'm sure it could be used for tremendous good but agree that we cannot put so much faith in it that it takes over large portions of our life, financial and medical decision making, moral decisions, educational decisions, etc. I'm sure we're in for a wild ride.

Well AI was programed by a human with biases and an agenda. Just look at the pictures above (rainbow flags and no guns for the pirate). The problem comes when AI begins to decide how to enact those agendas Asimov's 3 rules of robotics are fiction. AI has no more morals than the one who programed it. AI is a gun in the hand of a child
