Some of you may recall that just recently I posted about how I wanted a 1911 LW Commander in 38 Super. Nobody is currently making them and used ones where few and way too expensive. I ended up converting a Ruger into what I wanted. I spent months on that project. Wanna guess what just fell into my lap at a very reasonable price?

Colt 38 Super Custom Carry. 2012 TALO exclusive. Only 435 made. Came with original box and paperwork. I just couldn't pass it up.

I wish the 38 Super was more popular as it’s a great round. Just seems that the 124gr 9mm at 1,200 fps is hard to beat in both 1911’s and any number of double stack guns these days.

Unfortunately most ammo makers have watered down the 38 Super until its just barely better than the 9mm.
If you want true 38 Super performance you have to either buy boutique ammo or load your own.
For my new Ruger carry gun, I've settled on the Cor-Bon 125gr JHP. Its advertised at 1325fps.
