FYI for those who watch the survival show Alone. Season 13 will air on the History Channel on June 17th. This is one of the few television shows I make a point of watching every week. No firearms allowed but the contestants can bring a primitive bow and 9 arrows.

I used to watch most of the "survival" shows.

I had the opportunity to talk with one of the guys who was on ALONE. He said the Number One thing everyday was finding FOOD. That stuck in my head.

I liked the Husband and Wife show, Man Woman Wild. I think he was former SF and she was a weather girl(?). They always did hypothetical (OMG...) situations with minimal gear

The show with the former Army guy and his buddy that didnt wear shoes always confounded me

Im not quite sure about Naked and Afraid

I like the Bear Gryls shows

I think the Les Stoud shows were probably the most useful if you were looking for survival tips

Not exactly a survival show; but a few years ago there was a show (a few episodes) called Expedition Africa. The crew retraced the Stanley expedition to find Livingston, that was pretty good

Yes, FOOD is a main challenge on the show and also overcoming loneliness (missing family). In season 7 Roland Welker won the 100 days challenge because he managed to drop an 800 pound musk ox with an arrow. He did have to finish the animal off by cutting its throat.
