It’s well known when the English invented the fridge some time back in the 13th century it was spelled Refridgerator. However, a bunch of malcontents in the New World decided it was too hard to spell. Sort of like Jewellery/Jewelry.
1748 will cullen showed the effects of cooling. 1914 Fred Wolf made it. Now then the English used "ice boxes" like many other euros for some time. Using the "D", it is rumored, that the English too invented that, primarily to denote an opposite party to the Republicans. Or so it is rumored.
