While Mr Salinas was a hero and this is by no means a slight in him. But I wonder how long before all the gear and equipment chasers in the firearms community run out and grab FN 5.7’s a suppressor and try and do a “Salina’s drill”
Seems every time before the facts come in we get a “Jack Wilson drill” a Dickens Drill” or after Nashville all before LPVO optic was the hotness everyone had to buy one or they wouldn’t kive through the night!

And we seem to forget that there was also an off duty State Trooper in the restaurant that was returning fire as well, who did receive some form of training, whatever that might be. You will always have the gear and drill chasers, no matter the activity or interest. Grilling, smoking, fishing, hunting, shooting, etc. I think that all situations should be part of your practice/training, and added as different situations arise. 20+ years ago, the "active shooter" situation was much different than it is in 2026. After 9/11, terrorist attacks became the scenario we had to train/prepare for. Situational awareness has become much more important now. And yes, the firearms and tactics used change constantly with the scenario/situation. Again, it used to be that your odds of being in a situation where you might need a firearm were slim to almost none. Now, the odds have gone way up with the political/social climate we are witnessing today. Of course, this in not the first time in our nations history that we have had the very real possibility of facing violence and/or death from gunfire or arrows or spears or knives or swords. These things seem to go in cycles. And Jordan, IMHO, represents what the real concealed carrier is. Some practice/training, but mainly deciding on a firearm and rig, ammunition, and more importantly: mindset. OODA. He is what a lot of us are. I know there are those of you on this forum who are former LEO, Military, agents, etc. who have had that training and experience with real world situations. But, there are those of us who haven't. We have made the decision to carry for our protection, the protection of our loved ones, and if need be, the protection of others. And, just like him, we all pray to God Almighty that 1. We are never in a situation where we have to use it and 2. that we will react and step up when we are in that situation. I know that I do pray every day I holster up these things. We need to be thankful that people like Elijah, Jordan and many others that have been forgotten have stepped up and been that onsite responder when needed. They are also the best ambassadors for the 2nd Amendment and EDC. It is people like them, aside from being the "Sheepdog", that are disproving what the anti-gunners are constantly spewing as far as "untrained, armed rednecks" running around. These are all everyday people who, rather than running and avoiding the situation, step up and answer the call when first responders are not there. Or, as in this case, unkowingly assisting an off duty officer in stopping or disrupting the threat. Jordan's girlfriend was apparently in the restaurant during this. I am not saying this to slam you or implying you are slighting him, because you are not. We all know that there will be those "gungho" types chasing the next firearm/ammunition/gear/training fad. I like to look at all of this as a plus for our side and the 2nd Amendment.
