I have several Amend2 5.56 mags which I like just fine and which function perfectly, except that 4 of them won't drop out of the magwell on their own. I never thought about it, not being a guy that is used to drilling with an AR, but it seems like this could be important. This afternoon I ordered 20 Gen 2 Magpul 30 rd. P Mags, but I was curious why some of the Amend2 mags would drop and some wouldn't. And more importantly is there something that can be done to make those 4 drop free?

You could sand them down a little bit...guess it depends on if it feels like the mag body is dragging in the magwell, or if it's hung up on the mag catch...try taking your upper off and see if you can determine what’s hanging it up.

Look for witness marks on the bodies. Areas that look shiny because they rubbed the magwell too firmly. Look for shiny or polished areas in the magwell itself. Might be something as simple as a piece of plastic flashing from when they were molded. A little scotch brite and voila, drops free.

All 20 of my P mags drop like they should. The Amend 2 mags have been relegated to range mags.
