AR15 Pivot Pin....

Anyone know if you can just remove the spring and detent permanently to just have a pin you can remove as needed without going through the BS of capturing the spring and detent, turning it etc.?
The pin would just fall out. I'm sure you could manufacture something if you were so inclined.

They have extended pins with little handles if pushing the pin out is bothersome for you.

I'm not sure why you would need to remove the pivot pin repeatedly. Or at all. 💁‍♂️

also there are some that use a push to release

Sometimes it’s easier on some guns if you push the front takedown pin out and swivel the upper all the way up before pushing out the pivot pin.
I have a PSA 10.5" upper on Spikes lower. Have to release reaward pin and rock upper completely forward before releasing pin to remove upper. That being said, there is minimal resistance to push either pin past detent.

I like it when they are tight, usually means no slack between halves. i just use a punch and small hammer to tap them through a bit. never a need to remove them. i shoot and clean a lot of AR's and built a cleaning stand which works perfect. Easy to change between 308 and 5.56 platforms. and it hangs up on the ceiling out of my way until needed.
