I agree also. They should remain two separate agencies with separate mandates. As soon as things like that are mixed together, boundaries become blurred.

IMO it's worse than bad, ATF is a runaway semi with no brakes or steering wheel.

Federal gub'mint has too much power. One agency, two agencies... It doesn't matter, we all get screwed in the end. They'll still just chip away at the constitution with what they have, regardless of party. We witnessed it today with the SHORT and Hearing Protection Acts getting scrapped.
