AUG-12 Update

I purchased the Serengeti (AUG) 12 gauge a few weeks ago. I bought it because it was priced under $400 and figured I could sell it without too much of a loss if it turned out to be a dud. When it arrived I was genuinely pleased. Im not sure Id swop a well proven 870 for it in a Zombie apocalypse; but its a nice fun gun and a pretty close clone of a if a Steyr and a 12ga had a love child.

It needed an optic to complete the AUG look. I had originally intended to run a simple Red Dot; but then I remembered I had an old school Tasco Pro Point. The Pro Point and the swept back rings give it the "LOOK" I wanted. Finding HIGH swept back rings only required a quick Amazon search. Jeff B an I are pretty close, I click a couple buttons and he delivers it the next day (now that hes got that hot young wife, sometimes it takes him two days...).

Range testing was done with Brenneke slugs in hopes of taking it on a Wild Boar hunt. As you might have guessed with an optic maybe 4 inches height above bore it shoots low for point of aim (aim at the chest it hits in the groin on a B27 target / aim at the head it hits centre mass). Recoil with the 2 3/4" slugs was as expected, not powder puffs but certainly manageable. I didnt try a mag dump since I was at a busy indoor range; but rapid shots were/are easy and controllability no different from any other semi auto 12 ga. I expected a mushy trigger, which is typical of bullpups; but I was happily surprised.

The AUG-12 is right hand eject only. Unlike the actual AUG (STG 77) ejection can not be switched for left handers. Theres a small rail mounted at a 45 degree above the grip. Its a perfect location for a light OR laser. Im typically not a Laser guy (except IR for Night Vision), for an upcoming Wild Boar hunt Im contemplating a simple green laser. Ill sight the Red Dot for maybe 50 meters and the Laser for closer shots (10 meters?)

The AUG comes with 2 five round mags. They are the standard 1919 pattern magazines so you can opt for ten round mags and drums if thats your fancy. I picked up a few extra 5's to fill out my gear. Thats a repro FG42 bandolier in the pics. The five rounds mags fit but just a little snug lengthwise.

In keeping with the FG42 theme thats a modern version of the WW2 Fallschrimjager gravity knife

Looks good.

Does the manufacturer recommend any break-in period & number of rds. to do so?

Any low-brass restrictions? Maintenance requirements?

Sooooo the negative is there was no manual included. I havent done an online search yet. I suspect it breaks down like the other Turkish bull pups but no clue.

With the AUG-design it makes a nice CQB package for those with AUGs.

Would still like to find out how this AUG-12 operates with low-brass loads for practice.

I guess I'll eventually get around to trying LOW Brass shells through it BUT is clearly a tactical gun so I'll shooting mostly 00 and slugs through it. I cant imagine shooting bunnies with it. For me this is strictly gonna be for a FUN Hog hunt and TWO Legged animals

Not really interested in shooting bunnies, etc. with one since I have those bases covered, but like I said if the AUG-12 operates fine with low-brass loads the practicing drills will be a lot cheaper.
