Ayoob: Why the "Plain Jane" 1911 is Right for Me

I know I'm gonna catch hell from everyone, but there is no way I'm gonna spend $700 for a pistol that I might loose permanently if I have to shoot someone. I love the 1911s shot them in the navy in the late 80s/90s. Those ones were worn out and beat up but were still reliable. I would rather loose a worn out 1911 than a new one. Just my 2 cents.

Many people feel as you do.
If I buy a $90,000 truck and it saves my life three years later, after blowing a tire and rolling it over, and insurance only pays up $60,000, I would be grateful to be alive.
And while you may be on a tight budget where a cheap, $700 pistol seems like a fortune, what is your life worth?
A defensive handgun is a tool, nothing more and nothing less. Better tools in any trade or endeavor usually cost a bit more, tend to be more reliable, more precise, and function a little better in use.
