Barks & Bullets: The Story of S&W’s Bicycle Guns

I read an article in The Elks magazine about the history of velos/bicycles and how the “ Golden age” of bicycles in the US was the 1890s. It was said that bicycles did more to free women than all other events in history. Bicycle organizations in the 1890s are also largely responsible for spurring the government to invest in roads and bridges.
Anyway, the Elks article didn’t touch in guns at all so this is another interesting facet.

I used to race road bicycles in the USCF (united states cycling federation, now called USA Cycling). There was a particular stretch of road near Usery pass in Arizona that was on the Fort Mcdowell Indian reservation that was great for training but also had a couple of aggressive dogs. After the first time they chased me I brought a few large milk bone treats. For the 7 years I trained there those dogs would come out to the street and sit down waiting for me same time every day for their treats.
