Today marks the 80th anniversary of the start of the battle of Alcatraz. While current crime trends get a lot of attention of being “violent” the majority of staff killed in the Federal Bureau of Prisons happened the first half of the 20th century. Places like USP Leavenworth, USP Atlanta and USP Alcatraz were violent on a scale not seen today.
