Coming from Jerz to NC i thought heat wouldn’t bother me down here, but holy fudge did i underestimateI love the heat and humidity, Dirty Jerzey is a state that seems to get most of the USA weather and summer is the best season.
just drink things that are made with water like iced tea and/or lemonade. And don't over-do your work/fun and take breaks. Gatorade was a drink i loved when i was overly active and could drink it without cramping up. Nowadays there are mix-ins like liquid IV that are really good to keep people from drying out. Things a few people i know add to water at work or if they are out and about.
Enjoy this great weather and take breaks to be "safe" like if you were going to go to a range to shoot a P320...
First time i went to Las Vegas was in July of 2000 and no matter how dry it was, it was like the devils butthole hot!But the West has a DRY heat. Or at least if did before every house needed a swimming pool.
I worked as a welder most of my life. Makes me wonder how I stood to wear long sleeve shirts with a T-shirt under neath.
I roasted in the summer and froze in the winter. Dang , I didn't know I had it so well off.![]()
what is this, a b52's songSo does a pizza oven!![]()
didn't they make a chewable that was green?I’ll add , if you hate the taste of Gatorade these are an alternative. Don’t taste bad either.

Humidity east of the 100th Meridian is suffocating & swealtering to various degrees.east/gulf and west coast humidity is a world apart! i can handle the west coast humidity, but no way in he-double hockey sticks i can deal with east/gulf humidity! was at a family gathering between la and sd. we flew there and when the plane door opened............wow, what a difference between la and sd! 90 in la and 121 in sd area. i've lived pretty much all my life in the same town and still can't stand the weather here............well, the heat that is! from my experience i don't buy into the whole "if you don't pee enough, you need more water", but that's just me. others i can tell they need too. now, if i were on the east/gulf area, then oh ya, i'll need that h2o! i think it's more about the sweating than peeing when it comes to the h2o requirements. from my 48-60 hour straight work days in 90-100* (except for nights being 70-80's) i probably peed 4 times, but did drink a lot when i had time. 120 acres of alfalfa by yourself is no fun for sure!
You're lucky. Ya got to do the job. My Mrs. starts in on me before I finish my coffee. "Don't you even think you are going out in this heat/cold. You WILL take care of yourself. You will outlive me if I have to kill ya"I was a numpty yesterday and cut the grass when it was at hottest. Reached that point no longer was sweating and then went in for a break. So I was uncomfortable and wife was yelling at me for being dumb…was a great afternoon![]()
the difference between the atlantic and pacific waters are so different when it comes to humidity percentages or any water borders (ie, great lake areas). with the pacific being warmer than the atlantic year around creates less than the atlantic (or maybe just feels like it).Humidity east of the 100th Meridian is suffocating & swealtering to various degrees.
Glad I got out of it.

Installed a machine in Winfield AL during summer, that was ridiculously hot. My gauge was always the amount of cigarettes i would smoke during the day. Some jobs i wouldn’t go outside at all to burn one because it was like frying an egg and bama was one of those places. Forth worth and Lincoln Nebraska were others. Nebraska was actually worse around 5pm.Just another summer day in Alabama
Winfield is only about 1.5 hours south of me. I am hurt you didnt callInstalled a machine in Winfield AL during summer, that was ridiculously hot.
