Best distance to zero a Pistol mounted.....

Personally, I will zero a handgun in at the center of the range you intend to use it. 7-25 yards, zero at 15 yards. At those ranges the little bit high at <15 yards and the little bit low at >15 yards will be so small it will be outside of the skill levels of most shooters. I'm talking perhaps 1/4" When I was testing 10mm, I set the handgun to the center of the target dead on bore. The total drop at 25 yards was under half an inch.
 
My EDC laser is zeroed at 7 yds. As noted above, a slight distance change will result in a slight hit rise/drop compared to my laser dot, but the distances I'd engage in, it wouldn't be a huge difference in elevation. Anything further than 15 yards and I likely wouldn't engage anyway - I'd either exit the situation, or I'd move in closer, depending on the threat level to people I care about and my possible cover options.
