Best holster for 1911 .45cal Marine Corp Operator

Hello Oracles of arms-
After waiting a literal eternity, I finally have been allowed to begin the CCW application process in California. I have a 9mm that I plan to carry when needed but also would like to find a good, leather holster that I can use with my .45cal. Can anyone recommend a good outside the waistband (OWB) holster for the Marine Corp .45. Any guidance will be so very appreciated. Thank you!

Holsters are like underwear, different for everybody. What's perfect for someone else may be completely wrong for you. Most of us have a box full of holsters we bought that didn't work out.
For me personally, for 1911s and most semi-autos in general, I real fond of the old Askin's Avenger style holster. Suits me to a "T". YMMV.

As GF says finding the right holster usually results in a lot of trying various ones to find out what works for you.

This type would be a good start.

There are various manufacturers that make this type.

Check out DeSantis...

Blackpoint Tactical for kydex, Tucker Gunleather for leather. I have a half dozen Blackpoint Tactical holsters and they have become my go to holster for concealed carry. Here is my most recent for a light bearing 1911

Perfectly said right here.

I tend to go Falco or C&G. I really don’t like “we the people holsters”. I had 2 but 1 became spare parts for my HCP.

Truthfully there’s plenty of companies out there that for whatever you’re looking for.

The problem with most really good custom leather makers is they are one man shops. Most of them will have a waiting list of many months. You can buy a holster off the local gun store shelf but many of them are universal meaning they may fit a multitude of gun manufacturers. ETSY has holsters. Ebay has 1911 holsters. Amazon has a selection of holsters if you prefer inexpensive and foreign made. Those sources have leather or kydex.

Here are a few American custom leather makers that have a limited selection of holsters 'in stock and ready to ship':

Privateer holster (Wes has the greatest selection of 'in stock and ready to ship' custom and his "economy holsters")
Ryan Grizzle holsters
Ronin holsters
HBE holsters
TT Gunleather
Palmetto holsters
Springfield Armory webstore (holsters made by Rosen holsters)

I have used a pancake holster for my 1911 45 for a lot of years. The pancake holds the 1911 up against the body and makes that old slab sided 1911 disappear under a lose shirt.
