I Live near Pensacola. The Blue Angels are a really big deal here and Blue Angel fans are like a cult. We love our Blues. Blue Angel shows here are like a national holiday. So when a jet makes a low pass on the beach it gets screams of excitement and cheers. It blows over some sun shades and adds to the thrill. So the mainstream media makes a big deal of it claiming it's not safe and scared everybody on the beach. Heck, that's what the fans came for! For the record the low pass was within limits. Dang it, these are the best fighter pilots in the world. (After the Thunderbirds, of course)

So this morning I read where some asshat from Chicago writes that government money is being used to scare hell out of little kids at the beach. The people there loved the low passes The only criticism came from people who were not there and know nothing.

Thus another example of an arsonist media trying to start a fire. It reminds me of them accusing Border Patrol of whipping people at the border with the reins of their horses. Much of the media are ignorant, or just plain lying scum. Just the same, I trust them as far as I can throw one of their satellite trucks.

In all seriousness it probably scared the livin crap out of some. those things are extremely loud. i live near an air force base and when they are practicing here they rattle the windows and they are not real close. when they do get close you think all hell is breaking loose.

I remember a few years back it was really foggy and i don't know if this pilot had screwed up and thought he was landing at the base but he was treetop high and going slow for one of them. he then suddenly put the hammer down and my gawd, my ears about exploded. he was right over me.
 
I remember many years ago when an F4C Fast Mover went over me close enough that I could see the pilot turn his head and look at me. Shook my insides but it was definitely "the sound of freedom". It was when an AH-1 lifted out of the trees and momentarily pointed that mini-gun at me that made me...well almost :poop: myself.
To all the whiners crying about "too close" I will quote a t-shirt I saw the other day on a young veteran, "But did you die?"

So a USAF SP stationed at Kadena AB, Okinawa, 1982-1985. With utter certainty, I can stipulate these things are a giant PITA. EVERY TIME they took off, they would set off practically every car and building alarm on base…and guess whose job it was to go to EVERY.SINGLE.BUILDING.EVERY.SINGLE.TIME to insure it was actually a false alarm? Not me specifically, but I sure got to do my fair share of building inspections over those three years - especially since I worked Swing/Mids (1500-2300 or 2300-0700, generally three shifts of the first followed by three shifts of the second) that entire time and THAT is when they regularly launched! Sure was pretty to watch at dusk though, especially when they engaged to immediately gain altitude…
 
we used to live about three miles away from the old WIllliams AFB in Az. We'd sit and wait for the jets to do their flyovers in the evenings. We loved seeing them so close. Then the karens complained that the noise was a nuisance. They also complained about the General Motors Proving Grounds right next door to the AFB. Both had served the area for decades and employed local residents. Eventually the base was shut down and turned into a reliever airport for Sky Harbor. The GM Proving Grounds was knocked down for hundreds of cracker jack box little homes.
We moved as the same karens began to complain about big passenger jets taking off and landing with a flight path right over their cracker jack box homes. They didn't care about the hundreds of people who lost their jobs and the economic loss to the east valley of metro Phoenix.
