Buying a new car/truck?

I too am a Dodge truck guy. Have been for years. But I love them for the Cummins diesel (emissions deleted, of course). Here's my current one.

My last Cummins was a 2017 2500 Laramie. It also went on a diet and turned out to be a highly reliable truck w/o all that emissions crap on it. It also was a performance beast with the tunes added!

IIRC, the Hemi has been around since the 1956 Chrysler Imperial.

1951 Firepower 331 , in the Imperial and Full Size Cryslers .

Dodge and De Soto also had their own families of Hemi's in the '50's .

Noteworthy was the 1955 C-300 , as the first American car to have more than 1 hp per cubic inch ( 354 ci , 355 hp ) .

And of course the 392's of '57 and '58 .

Growing up , we had a '57 Imperial , And a '57 300-C . Because of the engines . ( Single 4bbl Imperial , 2 x 4bbl 300 .)

Being an Engineer and gearhead , Dad was into ( his idea of ) state of the art engines . After the broke college student era , was :

'41 Buick Straight Eight
'51 Rocket Oldsmobile
Above mentioned pair of '57 392's .

And final one , '74 Imp w/ 440 .

I dearly love the old stuff for toy cars, but I have to admit a modern car with fuel injection,

Yes . TBI and 700R4 had the cold starts , steep angles , and altitude corrections , and better milage and driveability all over the 350 4bbl , granny 4 speed C-10 .

But for me , the High Point of Vehicle Technology was that slice of late '80s to early '90s with TBI , but before full computerization .

After Mrs Biggfoot's '13 Explorer was totalled ( freak accident totally not her fault ) , she got the bit in her teeth about the replacement .

At that point , l wisely told her to the effect of : " l'm going to give you vehicle advice , the same way l give dating advice to the daughter .
I'll only say anything if you're about to do something extremely stupid , otherwise make your own choices & consequences . "

She got a '16 GMC Yukon . 4x4 , 6.3 V-8 . Also happened to be fully loaded .

I like it . Plenty of power , plenty of room , good milage for what it is ( 20 plus highway) .

If / when l ever need to replace my '94 Ranger , l could see this , or 1500 truck of same era .
