CA compliant M1A

Ok I need the real scoop on this rifle. I’m buying one and I want 6.5 CM. That gives me 2 options. CA compliant standard poly stock. And the precision loaded rifle. I live in Oregon so I can have either as of now. Springfield page only mentions the stock. I noticed the muzzle break instead of flash suppressor. And I’ve seen that verified on a Reddit thread. But that person said that was only difference….A mag that only holds 10, I assume that. But I seen on a website selling the rifle mention that the magazine is not detachable until you separate the upper from trigger assembly….i see no mention of that on Springfield site. I can’t seem to find a consistent answer from the sites selling it.What is the deal here. I’m ordering the gun from a sports store. I want to make sure I don’t get stuck with something I can’t remove the mag normally. Anyone have the 6.5 cm M1A bought recently to confirm.

I bought a CA-compliant AR-15. There were two choices. The way i see it, a detachable-mag versión is "featureless". [the trigger-fin (no pistol-grip), fixed-stock, muzzle-brake.

If you want any of that, you can't have a detachable magazine. You have to separate the upper and lower to reload

With a limit of only 10-rounds per mag, I went the 'feature-less' route. A non-detachable mag is even more ridiculous than that.

Better double-check the CA rules since it was my read that the M1A in its original configuration could still have an detachable mag (albeit below-normal capacity) because the M1A doesn't have a pistol grip.

BTW - There is a stripper clip guide on an OEM M1A to refill a mag if one doesn't want/can't remove the magazine.

No need to remove the trigger/FCS assembly to break the gun down but you're stuck with only using a scout mount, replacing the upper handguard for an optic.

But then Kalifornia has some seriously screwed up Jedi-mind trick gun laws.
