Can Biden Take Your Rights With The Stroke of a Pen?

Good story on if Biden can take away your rights with his pen. I don’t think any of the wild stuff will happen for his gun control agenda, he is limited on executive actions/orders and with the filibuster in place in the senate, I don’t think these bills will pass as long as Manchin and Sinema don’t change there minds on the filibuster.

The question is can he try.
The fact it they have already cut pretty deep in the last 40 years. When people can remember gun racks in pickup windows, that tells you where we were and where we are at now in 40 years.
I personally have had enough of the whole gun control thing. There is no evidence that not allowing open carry in a pickup has decreased anything. There is little to no evidence any of the fire arm restrictions put in place over the last 40 years have done any good.
So I am done. I am getting older and pretty much am done listening to the non sense of idiots. I felt the same way about the masks. What triggers me is I know when they start trying to guilt me, or play on emotions, that the argument is not based on facts. That is what abusers do, they use guilt, shame and such to get you to do what they wish you to do. Well I do not feel guilty, because I have done nothing wrong. Well maybe not nothing, but if I did it was minor and I accepted responsibility and the consequences of my actions.
It is amazing how that works, it is hard to shame or guilt someone who is a decent person and knows it.
Wear a mask. Or don't you care about people?
Gun control. Or don't you care?
Open the border. Or don't you care?
Let men use the womens bathroom. Or don't you care?
Give everyone trophies, Or don't you care?
racism. Or don't care?
No God in anything because it is offensive to some. Or don't you care?

THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE TEACHING KIDS. No wonder people have such a problem with self loathing and suicide.
These are signs of an abuser and narcissist.

NSFW. Some crude language.

" it is hard to shame or guilt someone who is a decent person."

I dunno............decent folks often tend to "go along", "don't rock the boat", and be "law abiding" and are ashamed to rebel even though the law is against the Constitution. Decent folk can be intimidated into compliance even tho they know it is wrong.

And.............there was some fairly decent folks ( LE, Military, mature, record free) people at a rally on the 6th that are now unemployed, shamed, divorced, in jail, and under investigation or ruined cuz they were hard to shame and were not guilty (of anything, prior to the sixth).

That is what my wife said. But that shame is only trying to be placed by those who use it for control.

"And furthermore, if I were to buckle under the social weight of the system by adhering to laws that I do not truly believe in, then I would be extinguishing the very fire of patriotism and individuality."

The fact is laws can not come to be through emotions, People do not run a business that way. Science does not work that way. The results would be undeniably horrible. They must be based in facts and common sense (in that order)

Good read Bob, thanks.
Am almost thinking every so often a dose of mass hysteria shows it's ugly head in society? Like Salem Witch trials, ect. ect, McCarthyism, this cult, that cult, ect. McCarthyism was rough enough with the media back then, the mass media today is more well spread with internet reaching even the back woods where many people avoided the hoopla before.

Some hysteria is created by natural causes like in ancient times having priestesses temples built over areas where volcanic gases warped their actions and thinking. DC's being built on filled in swampland emitting swamp gas may help explain weird actions and thoughts of some politicians causing irrational actions and thoughts too? - Semi sarcasm.

I get and support your point. BUT

That is how Socialism/Communism/Tyranny/Loss of Freedoms work: And it is what we are witnessing right now; decent folks (going to blame them?) who will be quiet/buckle because the children need to eat, the rent/shelter must be paid, financial ruin/prison is not an option. I, and perhaps you, and perhaps others, if they are well set may push back and take the consequences, but again, might not IF LOVED ONES MUST ENDURE EXTREME SUFFERING for your/my choices.

Witness the BLM/NAACP/PROGRESSIVES/ANTIFA/DEMS/BIG TECH SOCIAL MEDIA/NEWS MEDIA/POLITICIANS to name a few, who hold a ball bat of destruction over the head of decent American Patriots/Citizens over one wrong word, opinion, or (in their view) one wrong mistake or deed, or refusal to "take an obedient knee" to their (superior!) views.

I have some experience (which will not be revealed on this forum) in these matters. Taking (and maintaining) a stand on moral/conscientious objections can require an immense/comprehensive toll.

Yet laws come to pass through emotion all the time.

See all the laws that (likely most members here backed wholeheartedly) passed just following 9/11 (I was on gun boards back then, and remembered how much the general membership backed , nay, applauded when Muslim-Americans were detained from boarding flights just for, well, being Muslim...

See the internment of Japanese-Americans following 12/7/1941.

And so on.

Taking a stand is not for the weak. However if you do not stand for anything you will fall for everything.

As to what I said above, the teaching and using of guilt and shaming of people into doing what you want them to do, can be directly correlated to the state of depression, suicide and self loathing that is a huge problem and growing in the United States. So when talking about gun violence, you can not include suicide ( and that is the largest number), because those are based on feelings within that person that go back to shame and guilt. Not to mention that it would not matter, because if someone is suicidal they can just use a rope. The question is not what they use, but how they got to that point and guilt, self loathing and shame, which brings on feelings of hopelessness are almost always at the root of it.
Fact is many murders could probably be traced back to these same things.

I never supported it. Never supported the patriot act either. Also never supported citizens United.

I had to think about that. I wanted to respond right away the same way as Bassbob did.
The issue we had there is we were fighting a foreign enemy and did not know how badly it was embedded.
It maybe was not right, but it might have been necessary for a short time, and it was a short time. I say MIGHT have been necessary. To understand the situation better. Not to mention 3,000 people died that day with billions in damage. It was an act of war.
I like Bassbob, never thought the patriot act was ok.

In light of that time it could be understood that Japanese in this country might fall under suspicion until things were sorted out.

Same with Muslims at the time of 9/11. Better to err on the safe side. Even now they should not be allowed to serve in Government in any capacity, nor in the Justice system of the USA, nor run for election to any seat anywhere in this country. And I'm glad I did not have to watch my back with one of those dudes in the Nam. IIhan Omar is a disgrace to the USA and most of what it stands for. Muslims are antithesis to Freedom, Democracy, Christianity, and decency. Sharia law is gaining acceptance in the US, but you won't like it when applied to you. Some of them don't like it either but they know better than to complain about it.

Now before you blow a gasket I have a good friend living in the States from Iraq, another from Pakistan that has invited me to his home there. We socialize and get along well. We respect one another. I also understand that when the chips are down they are going to choose Allah over me or anything else. Just the way it is.

Is understandable. Very sad sometimes, but very understandable.
Knowing people from another country helps understand their views more. Has for me. Am wishing some people from other countries could/would understand and respect our countries people, founding principals, government, rules and freedoms better before trying to insert their own thoughts and views though? (May be a two way street though?) May also help eliminate many issues for all of us? "When in Rome, do as Romans do" come to mind?

Disrespecting/underrating/undervaluing women is one that's not taken too kindly in this country and is just one example of differences seen that's practiced in other countries.

There's much more to the stories and actual histories of Japanese/German/Mexican/Indigenous American people. Too much is unknown by average people in this country about actual history and it's effects. Far too much of it is very sad for those "different" people and that in many cases that are actually very patriotic US citizens that fought for all of us and our country. Actual/real US history should be taught in our schools and not the "fabrications" many times taught instead. - We all may be better off? But, what would anyone generally speaking expect when "history" is typically written by the victors of whatever conflict?

Did you know that most people do not plan out their suicide? They get to that point of no return one day and they act - almost immediately. And a gun is the quickest way to take yourself off this blue marble if you have one. A rope takes too much planning, a mouthful of pills and a bottle of a bottle of scotch is too unreliable.

I don’t know what sort of qualifications you have to wax lyrical about suicide, but suggest you volunteer with a suicide outreach organization or man a suicide hotline to see the level of despair people get to when they are at the lowest point of their life. Or is it easier to spew invectives on an Internet forum.

Want to know my qualification? One of my closest friends, a solid 2A defender, had a tough day at work one morning. Said he was going to the men’s room in the middle of a job we were doing and instead walked out to his car, drove home and shot himself in his back yard. No note. Nothing.

To this day none of us know why. He was a devout Christian, liked by everyone, extremely talented, had a beautiful wife and three kids, but that wasn’t enough. But I tell you what, for as angry/sad as it still makes me I don’t judge him or anyone else who looks into that chasm.

May do some people a lot of good to research suicide info before and when judging others too harshly?
A lot of hidden despair hidden by smiles, not knowing who to turn to, where to turn or what to say may have much to do with sad outcomes? Inexperienced kid's come to mind? Effects or causes are usually very emotional to everyone. Hidden symptoms are difficult to remedy, known's are sometimes just as rough to diagnose. In some ways, "the calm before the storm" or opposite may hold true as well? "Party 'till you croak" come to mind? The signs are usually there if looking in right direction with "correct prescription glasses" on or train of thought?

Whoa there, I am not judging anyone. I have known several people who have committed suicide.
While they may "get to that point and act one day" I think they have thought about it more than you think they did prior to reaching that breaking point. If they have thought about, I don't think a lack of a gun is going to stop them, was my point. The feeling of guilt, shame and or hopelessness does not come on like a tidal wave. but more of a wave after wave until it breaks you down in most cases. I say most cases because during the depression people jumped from buildings and possibly prior had very few bad days, but those people are the exception and not the majority.
You know, I am actually a little offended. One of my best friends was life flighted to the same hospital on the day one of my sons was born. I watched the helicopter land, as it was the only flight that day.
So yeah it has touched down pretty close in my life as well.

We know people from overseas as well. From several countries.
I do not like talking religion with other religions for one reason only. In my religion it says according to a covenant made by my ancestors, I am promised certain things. The same could be said about the constitution.
Which this country rose to greatness with both.
Now you know who does not like that covenant? People who are on the wrong side of it. I am not saying that bad things do not happen to good people. As far back as the earliest writings we know that bad things do in fact happen to good people. I am saying that if you live within some suggested rules, those bad things are less likely to happen. Kind of like this whole argument about breaking the law and then having police troubles.
Now when thought of like that, one can see that the people who want God removed do not like it or find it offensive why? because they don't agree. Why don.t they agree? Because they are doing something or want to do something that the Bible or the Christian faith says not to. So basically they are on the wrong side of the covenant and they do not like it. No more than a criminal likes seeing a police officer.

"but those people are the exception and not the majority." - Those people likely lived their lives by reading futures of many peoples actions and things and sometimes of their own as well? The stress was there just hidden by a mask of invisability. Likely saw outcome building well before others did, so in a sense, that stress too was building? Dealing with unknowns is tricky business with a lot of stress sometimes involved.

Good points. One of my brothers is into theology. - Religious study. Some, I suspect has rubbed off on me when speaking with him? Likely enough to be dangerous? :) There's also a few relatives in our family from other countries that helps in understanding differences too.

Thing I see is it's not just religious differences sometimes. Sometimes is cultural and other matters as well? Laws simply put for example? Laws are generally put into place because some people did not or were not taught the use of safety, common sense, respect and good practices beforehand by someone else or not at all. When those forgotten or unlearned lessons go rampant, laws are usually enacted to more or less force the point of those concepts turned to laws onto people. One problem or issue I see is sometimes those in charge of laws go to extremes and forget or misconstrued the lessons of "One bad apple spoiled the whole basket" thoughts and think one size fits all. Thing with misconstruing is in grouping all people or things into one basket as being one thing instead of just plucking out the bad apple before it does spoil the whole batch.

Since this is a firearms forum, thinking know what some are thinking and rightly so? The media in it's lust for almost unveriefied notariety and glitz overamplifies actual events into almost all out wars and huge conflicts then put's a devil in the mix and generally villafies gun toters and users because society has been tamed out of firearms use over the years. In the beginning and founding of this country firearms were seen as right for everyone for various reasons and they still should be seen as a right not to be infringed upon. Someone from some other country may not see or feel that because of their beliefs and upbringing? Guessing they either forgot or were never taught the "Roman Rule?"
