Can we have a little fun WHAT Would you pick?

Please if youre rolling your eyes lets just stop the thread early. I really mean this to be fun. We are gun guys, so lets talk about guns. You can pick your own scenario; Mine will be rioting coming out of the city because that seems most likely to me as I live in a suburb; but you can decide on a situation for you self.

OK so I live in a suburb. Its not far enough from the social welfare class to be free of wandering looters once they burn down all the shops in their neighborhood. My long distance patrol days are waaaay behind me, so Im staying close to home. Sure I'll go outside because Im not barricading my house nor sadly is it bullet proof (enough for me). My community is typical suburbs with individual houses on medium/small lots. The terrain is rolling hills, you either have to walk up a fight of stairs to get to your front door OR the back of your property is a down slope. Theres one road separating the houses but no road or ally behind the houses but there is a path that can be driven by 4x4s. There are other houses in the area. In short we are a quiet community but vulnerable to a City Mad Max assault (at least in my Hollywood inspired mind)

I wont be going far from home and I wont be able to out run the looters, so my weapon of choice is something in the SMG category. Full Auto is cool but magazine capacity is more important to me in this situation. Thats why my first choice today is a Ruger PC Carbine, dressed out like the PPSh41 with a MagPul drum and a Binary trigger. Id prefer that the Ruger had a shorter barrel (maybe someday) but I can live with the 16 inches. For my area the 9mm PCC/SMG works fine.

Heres a pic of the real PPSh 41 and the Ruger

There'd be nothing wrong with a AR or even a AR10, of course they add weight and extra weight of ammo; but have some advantages.

What would YOU pick for YOUR area?

because i LOVE "old fashion guns" like a lever action rifle, and a single action cowboy revolver, and

gimme an Elliot Ness era type of Tommy Gun, any day, and i'll be a happy old man.

hell, i'd even want a Gatling gun as well.
Do you have one? IF not what gun that you actually have would you choose?

Neither

Both of them have very limited useage in my area due to their limited (60 yd) effective range.

The PPSh 41 uses an odd-ball cartridge, and the Ruger looks like it doesn't use Glock mags which I've standardized on.

My .02

For where I live (very rural) I don't want anybody getting close enough to be within accurate 9mm range.
We're a 100+ yards from the only road and have a clear picture over 1/4 mile in either direction. I want to be able to reach out and touch someone.

Same here.

Both cartridges OK for compound defense but that's it, and range also matters for me.

May work for folks east of the Mississippi, and west of the Cascades, and mega-urban areas due to the conditions in those areas, but the PPSh 41 still uses an odd-ball cartridge which will rapidly become unobtainable.

Boy you're not kidding!

Easy. AR15.

The choice of a PCC is going to make magazines a critical factor. With an AR, there is a greater likelihood that you will find spare mags in your AO.

Plan accordingly.

Remember the thread about what to have when the system breaks down and component parts dry up?

You know I did think an AR was the EASY BUTTON; but I opted for the Ruger PC Carbine because it uses Glock mags, the same as my handgun (I normally cringe when someone says that; but in this case I think it works). Again in my personal scenario, this isnt an end of the world for all times event; only a short term thing.

You are of course to plan for your own scenario

Its games like these that let me "justify" future purchases...I might needed it IF

I have the Ruger LC Carbine, but mine is in .45. This one stays loaded with the extended Glock magazine (

and a couple more loaded magazines for reloads) in my front room closet. I have many other choices to pick from, but this one is my front door greeter if I'm not armed with a pistol.
