Cane For Personal Protection

In less than 2 years, I've had 4 major surgeries that 3 of them required use of a cane during my recovery phase. I more than likely have one more major surgery sometime in the not-too-distant future that will also require use of a cane. I've come to the conclusion that because of my physical disabilities, a cane is going to always be a part of my life. It just makes it a whole lot easier to get around. A few months ago, there was some discussion about canes for self-defense. While a lot of people think a sword cane is what you would use for self-defense, in a lot of states and a lot of places, they are illegal. What I had been using was a cheap folding Walmart Hurrycane. Very flimsy, and one good wack to a thug's head would probably make him laugh. I am right-handed and shoot right-handed. I use my cane with my right hand to help support my weaker left side. If I am ever accosted by a thug, I just might have to use a cane to ward off an attack long enough until I could free up my gun drawing hand. This stick is Hickory and very stout. You would have to look at the website to see all the custom options there are for these ADA legal canes. They are not cheap and are custom made in the USA. This is just a thought for an option for older or disabled folks out there. For me, I think this would give me just enough time to knock some sense into a criminal and give me time to transition to my dominate shooting hand. Just food for thought. They do make strong metal personal defense canes that you can use to defend yourself when you are in dire straights.
They are costly but how much is your life worth ❓
Also, depending one your personal strength and agility is the one you choose as the weight makes a huge difference❗
 
20ga ( or .410 , or pistol caliber ) canes are AOW .

Check local laws carefully as to status of sword canes . In some States ( mine) a Carry Permit will also allow the full range of other * Dangerous Weapons * , a lot of others are specificly only for handguns .

The primary question for canes / walking sticks is crook vs " pistol grip" vs straight w/ heavy knob .

Like many of us here, more than I can afford. Personally I think my family is worth a squad of Marines surrounding us 24/7/365. We have to make choices and make do with what we can. Nothing personal brother but that's a B.S. argument.
 
While I don't need one for walking I have one of these when I go on my walks since there's loose & aggressive dogs in my neighborhood.

Mine is Sumac root,very solid and no restrictions which was great when I was able to fly and that's a thing of the past no more flying because of my medical.
