The Civil Rights Division today filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department due to their pattern or practice of infringing the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens seeking concealed carry weapons (CCW) permits. This lawsuit is the first affirmative lawsuit in support of gun owners filed by the U.S. Department of Justice. On March 27, 2025, the Division initiated the first-of-its-kind Second Amendment investigation due to numerous complaints of unreasonable delays in CCW permitting decisions by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. After analysis of data and documents spanning over 8,000 CCW permit applications, the Division today filed suit seeking relief on behalf of law-abiding applicants.

“The Second Amendment protects the fundamental constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to bear arms,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “Los Angeles County may not like that right, but the Constitution does not allow them to infringe upon it. This Department of Justice will continue to fight for the Second Amendment.”

“The Second Amendment is not a second-class right,” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “This lawsuit seeks to stop Los Angeles County’s egregious pattern and practice of delaying law-abiding citizens from exercising their right to bear arms.”

I’ve always wondered why one of the guns rights outfits hasn’t filed a suit because of a disparity in application of a Constitutional Right. I live in Ky, and have a valid, state issued CC permit that allows me to carry in most states, yet if I drive 100 miles west and cross the river into Pritzer’s Paradise suddenly I’m in violation of the law. Can you even imagine the uproar in ANY other right was treated the same? Sounds like a darn good case for national reciprocity to me.

If Caifornia doesn't want to use THIS country's Constitution, let them secede from this country and start their own
And the downside would be….? Turn off the water and electricity from other states and they’d die of thirst in the dark😏. I still favor shipping all the commie wannabe’s there, fencing it off and giving it to Chairman Kim in exchange for his nukes and missiles. Win win for everyone, Kim gets Disneyland, communist wanna be’s get to live their dream, world is safer with a non nuclear N Korea and the US is free’d from those who hate it. 🙄

You're talking about southern California. That's where all the California-hating tourists go to visit. And they get their water from Northern California and the Colorado River. Northern California has all the water and power we need.

Right now, we just need people to focus on letting newsome continue to commit political suicide. Hilary says people like him are what's wrong with the country.

I love watching the democrats implode.

ETA; Don't get me wrong. I hate the State of California. I doubt anybody hates it much more than i do, but if I can ride my motorcycle in February, go snow-skiing the next day, seeing the mountains and the ocean, and not watch the news, I can ignore the BS. It's the haters who make me shake my head.

My wife's parents have just passed, and that's what been keeping us here. We'll happily move and enjoy everybody else's 5hitty weather

some police depts here in my state, now include mental health reports from several hospitals..the applicant signs a release, for the police to obtain those reports (i posted 1 PD some time ago) and they fax it over to ALL the hospitals listed..

BUT due to HIPPA laws, ALL those hospitals MUST call the PD and talk over the phone to the PD.....

and if no one is in the office...????

good luck Chucky.............

i wish someone who lives in those cities here, would also file such a complaint.

I would be a lot happier if the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ would start filing lawsuits on politicians that vote for these anti A2 laws for civil rights violations. Until we hold these jack wagons personally responsible this B.S. will continue.
