Clear Winners? Translucent AR-15 Magazines

Serious engagememts, I run mags dry a lot.
I also cant stand clear/frosted mags.. annoy me like a kitchen cabinet with glass doors. Cluttered look .
 
My KUNA has clear magazines that I like, but for my AR-15's I like the original 30 round aluminum ones. Old habits die hard.

Speaking from extensive personal experience ......

Translucent polymers are notoriously brittle, and even more susceptible to UV light than colored polymers.

The closest I've come to a workable "clear" magazine is the Lancer Hybrid.

Magpul won't be getting any of my money for theirs
 
In a real life, honest to goodness combat type situation it would seem that the bad guy would be able to get a good idea how much ammo you have left, too.

Likely not a big concern, but certainly possible. Rather like the people who argue against having a laser on a home defense gun because it "gives away your position".
 
I'm about to make a statement that will shock a few here. LOL, The clear mags i have are just range mags. when the serious stuff is needed, when all hell breaks loose the mags and guns will be black, all black as the ace of spades. Maybe one will be Camo.
 
Not a fan of them from years past they have always been big as durable. I even saw first hand issues with the first Gen Magpul mags just being loaded and carried had splits.

The newer Magpul I do like and have more confidence in but I like the old GI mags with the green anti rip follower.
Mad far as being able to see different ammo yeah that’s great on a bright day but lowlight gonna be hard.
An old school trick (Even Marshal even mentioned it a few decades ago if you know who that legend is) and something I do is carry FMJ (or whatever) in that 30 round and whatever JHP (or whatever magic bullet hih like) in a 20 yjen it’s just feel.

But I suppose someone will be so emotionally attached to ammo capacity they need both to be 30 rounders. Which is fine in a battle in Afghanistan but you will probably be ok with that 20 round.
