Clip Loaded Handguns - Pros & Cons

[Talyn]

One of the weirder features Kel-Tec has recently dived into is clip-loading handguns. Yes, clip, not magazine. The gun features a fixed, internal magazine, and the user loads this magazine via clips. KelTec released the PR-57 and the PR-3AT both as clip-loading handguns.

Clip Loaded Handguns - Pros and Cons

Clip loaded handguns are making a comeback! Well, kind of, KelTec is trying, and they've made two, which is close to a trend.

As far as carrying extra clips, I use a Leatherman holster similar to this picture to carry speed strips for my S&W Model 36.

Be that as it may, I don't want it pointed at me or my family and friends.

I've no idea what the reasoning was, but the design goes back over 100 years. Don't quote me, but I think the Borschardt used that design and it dates back before 1898.

In all seriousness (from some in the industry) it’s offered for a couple reasons one being states that ban certain detached high cap mags but things like a tube that isn’t your hood. I sort of call Bs as most could run a reload with traditional 10 or under tham fool with that stripper clip type thing bur somewhere in a board meeting aomeone reinvented a square wheel most of us know better then to try out!
