Well, looks like another manufacturer has messed up the looks of a 1911 by putting a dot on one…….to me it’s like putting lipstick on a pig…..just me

While I get having an option because…:well people. The issue the ones complaining about Cokt not having an OC ready 1911 ate probably not buying any OC Colt 1911’s anyway because they are either into 2011’s or something else.

While I wish Colt luck. A couple things.

1 Hope they keep the non OR versions as I personally don’t like looking at where a plate goes in a 1911.

2 They would probably be better off introducing a wide body 2011 ish double stack as that’s a lot of rage (I know CZ who now owns them has the DMX or whatever) And or re introduce the Colt Double Eagle.
While I am not sure if they stopped he DE because it had he similar type de cocker as Sig and Sig’s lawsuit against S&W forced S&W to stop their frame mounted de cocker guns but for DA guys (and a lot are around look at Sig 22x sales)

Agreed. Worst trigger I have ever felt in a Colt. Ever.
Colt, Kimber etc, series 80 sucks period.
Personally I like the idea of optics on a 1911. I'm waiting for Kimber to hopefully bring a fully blued or black Kimpro new generation 1911 into the market. The New Generation 1911 is series 70 and has a rounded grip. I'm just not into all stainless or two tone 1911's. The only stainless I own is a S&W 640 in .357.

RDS options on a 1911 are great.
This is America where we have choices.
Dont like it, dont buy it.
If it fails, Colt wont produce them anymore. Free market society.

I feel the same about Glocks. Cant stand them. But hey, they are popular and well selling, so there you have it.

Agreed, don’t like it don’t buy it, but a dot on a 1911 is still butt ugly……😬😬

true, to me too, it takes away the long standing looks of a 1911.

but even my favorite LGS owner told me..."everyone these days wants optics"

so just don't buy one.

for me, i think i'd like to have one, for my next ccw qualification in 2029......

then again, i might not even carry anymore by then. who knows...???

Seriously, I just can’t justify a dot on a defensive gun when your depending on a battery powered site in a possible life or death situation, if the dot fails, you have to go back to your iron sites, so why bother, I guess I’m just to old to change, this is just my thoughts, I may not like dots, but lots of people do, so I’m not saying anything against them,

Any semi-auto pistol I buy in the future will have a slide cut for optics. Not too long ago I started a thread on the FN FNX-45, wanting to know what owners thought of them. Then I was turned onto the HK Mark 23 for a little bit. But I found out that pistol slide was not cut for optics. That was a deal killer for me. And I'm not sending a $2500 plus pistol in to have it's slide cut for optics. I'm back on track to soon get the FNX-45, as it is cut for optics. As it was said before, don't buy it if you don't like it.
