COLT MATTE BLUED PYTHON: ROBUST & RUGGED, BUT STILL A CADILLAC

Ohhhhhhhhhkaaaay. It was doing ok, not great for sure but ok, until scrolling down to the side by side photo. Wow. Talk about (insert celebrity name here) with no makeup on. Nope. The magic Python profile isn't enough to save it. Go polished or don't bother going.

That finish kinda reminds me of the old Colt Peacekeeper……

Had 3 original pythons, 2 six inch barrel and a four inch barrel, all in Royal Blue. The four inch was a piece of art, beautiful gun, now the first six inch gun, you could actually turn the barrel with your hand in frame, got rid of it and ordered another one. Received it, took to range, at first it shot ok, then the groups started to open up, didn’t think much of it till I got home to clean it, to my surprise, all the rifling got shot out, sent it back to Colt, they replaced the barrel but the blueing didn’t match and they wouldn’t make it right. Just showed me how Colts customer service sucked back then.

One of the features of a Python is that deep, high polished blue finish. This ain't it. I have no idea what Colt is trying to do here.
Agree! Every one of the blued python models I've seen up close and held has looked terrible to me. To me they look like wrinkled plastic had came into contact with the Python while the bluing was wet.
This matte bluing basically looks like a better looking parkerizing to my eyes.
Bring back the super shine perfect royal blue.

Yep...nothing better looking than old school bluing and case coloring with leather, charcoal and bone. New coloring fades and well...its junk.

Glad Colt released a matte SS version of the Gen2 recently.

My 90's Gen 1 is more of a satin finish.

When the Gen2 was initially released the super shiny mirror-like finish was a turn-off for me.

If I ever got another Python I agree with this article that a 5" barrel would be the best for me.

I will stick with my brace of Colt Troopers, Mk 3, 357 & 22. Good blueing and designed to be used, although mine, sadly, haven’t much…
