If you're relying on internet-based Wifi, if something happens to the "net" what's next?

Starlink. Nothing is perfect and comms are not guaranteed no matter how prepared you are. Not that I've seen it done, but one time for Operation Desert Shield, comms for everyone in a very, very large geographic footprint had all means of communication jammed. Be prepared but don't allow comms to be the linchpin to your survival.
