Compact 1911 search

Im looking for a pair of Officer model size (3 to 3.5inch) pistols. So far Im thinking Colt Defender, Sig, Kimber, or maybe Springfield. I want 45acp. No rail No ambi safety No night sights just old school

Yes I want two. Im open to blue or stainless, no other colours.

Any suggestions?

Well Im not opposed to Rock Island. Im not fond of the sights on the one pictured; but its worth considering.

My dream guns were/are the Detonics Combat Masters but I want a grip safety so I can carry them condition one

Does anyone make a 1911 with a short upper with a full size grip?

This all started when I started re-reading The Survivalist series of book from the 1980s. Re-readings is more like it as in maybe the 20th time. The main character carries two Detonics in a double Alessi shoulder rig. Thats just tooooo cool

I have both a 3" SA Micro Compact 1911, in .45ACP and a Colt New Agent, 3", in 9MM. I like them both, the Colt has laser grips and is a back up to my RIA 5" and my 3" SA Mil Spec is a back up to my Mil Spec 5"SA

I had this one from SIG that I stupidly let my good friend talk me out of. I keep after him to sell it back to me. It was great to carry and a great shooter but I wanted a rail. They stopped making it but there are some still out there on the used market.

I also like the Colt New Agent, which uses trench sights and is very similar to the OSI pistols of the 80's. The Colt Defender is also on my list of wants

Nowadays my EDC is the Springfield 1911 TRP CC AOS. Because it has a rail and takes light and optic

Waaaay way back I had a ASP pistol with the Guttersnipe sight. It was a pretty cool idea and Im glad to see other companies are bringing the concept back

For theses 1911s I think I want the Express Big Dot. They are very fast and reminiscent of sights for Dangerous Game rifles

I think the SAS sight is just tooooo unconventional for the general public. Its on the same level as trying to explain that the real safety is their booger hook connected to their brain, not that lever on the gun

Unconventional sights scare people because they have to invest time and practice to learn how to use it. And it's a new fangled thing the curmudgeons can grump about. Kind of like automobiles and red dots. It's just a different way to get to the same place.
