Concealed Carry Reciprocity

My concern (and why I believe it’s just lip service) while there had been a lot of 2A wind there are several set backs with state legislatures that nobody seems to call out. Sure when they pass a bill they have to wait until it officially becomes law before an injunction or outright cease and desist (that almost never happens)

An example is I am
In Seattle visiting my son and Washington State just signed a bill requiring a permission slip and trainjng to purchase a gun. BUT it doesn’t take effect until 2027

How many times have we seen this back and forth game the Republicans are not serious

Well, congress did just pass HR 2243, "LESOA Reform Act," that grants police special nationwide concealed carry freedoms that are still being denied to law-abiding Americans.

At any rate, my question is if it's good for cops, why is it not good enough for law-abiding citizens??
That wasn’t really a new thing, it just was year another revision and took out a lot of minutiae.
Disclaimer I am just explaining the way it has went down through the years not shoulda would coulda we all know Congress doesn’t care.

That said I wish national reprosity was law of the land as I do take advantage of LEOSA in my travels .

I’ve been involved since LEOSA was originally a thing there was a 2010 revision that specified if Hollow Points are legal I. The persons resident state them they couldn’t be charged and added some other verbiage. And lowered the years eligible to get it from 15-10 years of covered employment.

Then in 2013 another revision that an added the phrase “powers of detain” with the Statutory Powers of Arrest this was to include the civilian DOD as well as Military Police members of all branches.
The 2013 revision also required identification to state “LEO or etc” as some Federal Agencies credentials had not said specifically “LEO” on it.

The new bill actually had wording that exempts any mag capacity restriction like the 2010 revision addressed the JHP for places like New Jersey.

Here is the side effect that I have seen and been briefed by DOJ attorneys when I would decertify at FLETC. In the early years there was a few folks wrongly himmed up as a lot of states and individual officers were on their own time. It started to get cleanup but the revisions were needed in 2010 because apparently the Hollow Point restrictions were more of an issue than mag capacity was, however since nothing specifically addressed mag capacity the 2025 revision is suppose to address that.

My point for being that all up is not to trigger anyone just to say it’s been iver 20 years (it started in 2004 became law in 2005) and they still have issues with states and municipalities that still do not abide by it so in 20 years we are on revision 4 of LEOSA

So from experience if they passed a civilian national Carry bill today there will be 20 years of tweaking it because well for being a bunch of lawyers Congress is dumb!

But getting even a small bill passed is better than nothing.

Appreciate the detailed clarification….another reason I like this site and folks here. And agree that it will take 20+ years for Congress to get anything right!

It’s frustrating as we are still having to take jurisdictions to court for the Heller decision in DC in from 2008. It plainly states common usage and yet here states are trying to ban or restrict stuff 17 years later!

An artifact of the "Culture War". Along with genderism, abortion rights, and other woke nonsense.
Politicians have created identity boxes that divide us, gun owners are in a box that evokes emotion. Gun ownership has been an issue bandwagon, pulled back and forth since Lexington and Concord. Gaining political power requires issues that will rally supporters, and gun control is a good one because it is such an enduring emotional issue. The founders understood this when they adopted the Bill of Rights. The gun control pendulum swung to the left in the 20th Century. The good news is, in the past 40 years it seems the pendulum is moving back in our favor, as slow as it is. Legislative and Court battles will be relentless into the future, and changes will be incremental. Our children and grandchildren will fight the battle into the future.

It's only passed the House currently. It's up to the Senate, now

"something that Republican leaders in both the House and the Senate have been vocal advocates of in the past."
Big bleeping deal. Call me when their votes a line with their vocal advocacy. Talks Cheap!
On the bright side, it will give them an excuse to hold hearings, maybe go on a fact-finding junket to the French Riviera to see how gun control is working there, then on to London, Sydney, Rome, ...

You ready to be the test case in Mass, Hi or NJ? Not me, either. LEOSA may be the law but I am not willing to push it. Better to never go there…

(y) Remember the high school football coach that had NON-mandatory prays before the games and was fired? After fighting for ten years, losing his home, and being bankrupt, he "won" and got his job back.

I don't think it's law yet. Last I knew it was only paassed by the House and not Senate and not signed by Trump

All the more reason to plan your road trips through only the free states.
And if not possible be totally aware of the state you are going to be soon traveling through and put all firearms away and most importantly do everything you can to avoid drawing attention to yourself.
For myself personally traveling while pulling my home on wheels I NEVER travel over the speed limit, in fact ALWAYS 5-10 MPH below in slow lane or proper lane to try and avoid constant lane changes and ALWAYS use my turn signal's.
I also have one thing; “I believe” going for me is my Truck is setup to advertise my WildLife Rescue Service with signage, lights and multiple antennas for my on board radio gear. I look official.
I’m also contemplating putting signage on the back of my RV.
all this being said I haven’t been pulled over in 30 years.
